Real people, real problem, really recently.

Here ya go.

If we only did this to every straight couple that called the police, we could "stimulate" the bailbondsman industry and increase revenue from court fees.

Lawrence V Texas only prohibited prosecution if the behavior occured in a 'private' setting. The statement in the article above that 'state statutes were found unconstitutional' by this decision is untrue. In fact, Mecklenburg County (Charlotte, NC) arrests roughly 250 homosexuals a year for either a 'crime against nature' or 'soliciting a crime against nature'. Proof that the law is being used to arrest, prosecute and jail those that 'solicit' such behavior. The above is a good example of unformed reporters who claim what they 'think' the US Supreme Court said versus what it actually said.

Regarding the bill "Conform State Law to Lawrence v. Texas"

The current "Crimes Against Nature" statute does not just concern gay folks. The statute also regulates what type of sex straight couples can legally engage in.

The statute is just selectively enforced, mostly against gay men, rather than straight folks or even lesbians. It's worth noting that selective enforcement of any statute is unconstitutional whether the law has been found unconstitutional or not.

So I'm not sure this bill title hides anything. It has a broader scope than just "gay sex"

Have a great weekend, straight folks! Don't worry about the police arresting you for sex with your spouse in your own home. They usually don't enforce this law unless you're gay.

You offer $215,000 total annually to 2 new state employees and you tell hundreds of others that they have to find work elsewhere. Yep, I can see how that keeps you awake at night.

Whose schools work better?
by T. Keung Hui, N&O, Feb. 8, 2009

"How dare they use my children for a social experiment that has gone wrong and needs replacing," said Dana Cope, a Raleigh parent of two reassigned students. He heads the new Children's Political Action Committee, which intends to back candidates in this fall's school board elections.

The court didn't strike down racial diversity. It just said you couldn't use race to achieve it. Racial diversity can still result in pockets of poverty which are proven to hurt learning. Wake dropped race based selection and uses an enrollment formula based on 40% maximum free and reduced price lunch and maximum 25% achievement below grade level.

Dana Cope and Ardis Watkins of SEANC want to represent low wage state workers but don't want their kids going to the same schools.

I agree on their right to make this march and to post their wants and or needs. My questions are:

1) Who is going to pay for all of it.
2) Isn't there a Supreme Court decision that say setting school districts and enrollments based on race is unconstitutional?

What's wrong with this picture?

From the 14 point People's Agenda:
1: All children need high quality, well funded, diverse schools.
11: Collective bargaining for public employees.

Dana Cope, Executive Director of SEANC, on Wake County Schools diversity policy:
"How dare they use my children for a social experiment that has gone wrong"

B.S.

Hawke has long been one of Art Pope's ringleaders, whose "outside" group (RLM) poured several hundred thousand dollars into state house elections in 2006 leading to the replacement of Pope's arch-enemy, Richard Morgan, with Joe Boylan.

Jack Hawke knows everything he needs to know about the corrupting influence of outside money in campaigns. He's one of the grand masters of that dark art form.

**************

Of course, we can't expect the Dome to actually call B.S., when one of the chosen ones shucks and jives his way into sympathetic coverage. You should be embarrassed to play the fool while Hawke gets away with being surprised by this "new wrinkle."

The State of Virgina has that stipulation to as far as prohibiting collective bargaining. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get this law changed. North Carolina is a right to work state also. This will prohibit assements aganst non union members.

At least Orr bothered to show up.

As Ryan has probably already mentioned, Orr was the only GOP candidate to attend the debate hosted by the NAACP.

And why do you think that is?

State Employees need protection? Geez, once they get a job with the State, except for criminal activity, it is almost impossible to get out non-performers & slackers. The more the State "out-sources" the better for all of North Carolina.
