Cornbread and mountinman - what a comic team.

Bev should eliminate all white men from her cabinet. That would also be a first.

Mountainman, don't demonstrate your ignorance by posting without doing your research.

Perdue's head of DHHS is a Republican. It's been widely noted here and in the general media.

Re: Easley ties in Perdue's Cabinet

Here we go again!!!! more corruption without interuption. Taxpayers get your pocket books out and shut your mouth. Raleigh politics, you get what you ask for sometimes and the voters spoke loud and clear on nov 4th. They had a chance for change in raleigh, but where so narrow minded the thought they couldn't vote anything except a straight democrat ticket. So, now she isn't even sworn in yet, but the same old corrupt people start to ooze to the top. No suprise here, thats what happens when andy griffth elects your governor. The voters don't check out the canidates. They vote democrat because andy said to, or obama said to, or their grandfather did, maybe they voted for bev because they hate george bush. WOW North Carolina voters really made a point this election cycle. But, the bottom line is we the people of north carolina will a pay the price for this point. Not just the folks that voted for these crooks, but everone in the state.

Reuben Young? Horrible... Easley Lacky- and lates example..

Beverly Perdue's decision to appoint Reuben Young as head of Crime Control and Public Safety is the latest example of a extremely disappointing attempt of transition. This has all the markings of pick made for other reasons beyond professional ability. Young carries the smell of covering up for Mike Easley for years on Easley's personal staff and completely lacks the professional credibility, ability and respect of the Highway Patrol, Emergency Management and National Guard professionals. This is a disaster waiting to happen....
Perdue's early salvo of appointments has taken on the air of team matching a profile rather than the best professional available to work collaboratively to move the State of North Carolina through these unprecedented difficult times.
The Perdue/Zack Ambrose tandem are giving the direct impression of a pair overwhelmed, lacking in grasp and unprepared to lead. At a point when Perdue needs all the best minds and strongest cohesive individuals who will give it to her straight... she has surrounded herself with shallow circle of light-weights and yes-people more condusive to insecurities than progress.
This administration will quickly be defined as the earliest lame duck on record. In a record time Perdue has proven completely unprofessional and has burned the trust and crediblity in her word to the majority of her backers. Might as well go ahead and crown Basnight as the de facto Governor. The Perdue support network have clearly already lost faith in Bev and will now move to consolidate in the Basnight camp.
You are overwhelmed and out of your league in office Mrs Perdue just as you were in your campaign. This time- you have burned your credibility and those folks won't be there to do all your work for you anymore. They are all now firmly on the Basnight team and will govern through the legislature and compensate for the empty office which now exists in the Gov's Mansion. Truly disappointing - you had it ALL there for you- and and you have already failed miserably. Enjoy figure head status.

Soon there will be some really great exposition of corruption in the DOT, etc by the great Fern Shubert, who will continue in the role of de facto investigator in the absence of Les Merritt!

Fern Shubert should be our governor instead of Sugar Dumplin.

What about Valeria Lee? She is one of the second round of transition team leaders, and finished up at Golden Leaf earlier this year. Is she really retired, or would she like to wrap up her career as, say, Secretary of Administration? It wouldn't be too surprising if she was aiming for Commerce, either.

The NCDOT is one of those organizations that has spun out of control. Too many people spending too much money for whatever results are generated. It definitely does not need another caretaker who will only perpetuate the joke that it is. A private organization with the budget of the NCDOT could pave the world.

Throw the NCDOT into the mix with the big Detroit three. Add water, simmer for 30 minutes, then dump in the fish tank.

Szlosberg for Transportation?

Raleigh businessperson Nina Szlosberg is a leader on rail, environmental, and related questions as a member of the state Board of Transportation. She'd make a fine Secretary of Transportation, with a clear commitment to an effective and balanced transportation system.

FFC1304 "A NC Constitutional Amendment calling for ONE Senator for EACH of the 100 Counties in NC ...:

I think the US Supreme Court tossed this idea in 1962.

Crandall Bowles took over Springs, shipped good paying North Carolina jobs to Mexico and China and then made millions selling the company. Maybe the former Springs employees who lost their jobs could go to work for her at the Commerce Department.
