It's a win for the W.C. Fields school of philosophy over home-state lobbyists across the land:

"I'd rather be in Philadelphia."

That's really bad news. Was hoping we'd really see some transparency and change in the way our government does business, as Gov. Perdue promised.

We have a long way to go to deter drunk driving!

You'll never deter it. Never. Prohibition proved that.

All you can do as long as you have restaurants that serve a legal substance that literally makes it illegal for you to leave is make money off the irony.

That's it.

Thanks for setting me straight on this. I am certainly no expert like you. What little I know of drunk driving I have learned from the scenes of the accidents that were caused by these drunks who have been deterred by our laws "which are probably the toughest in the country." LOL

Sit around a courtroom and learn firsthand. And ask some law enforcement personnel how tough we are. I'm sure they will agree with you.

You might discover that the Booze It-Lose It might not be as effective as you obviously think it is. And give your expert opinion to the parents of those killed or maimed by drunk drivers.

We have a long way to go to deter drunk driving!

I encourage you to test this theory.

But little attention is paid to drunk driving. The papers are full of new cases each day. The penalty for drunk driving is a joke. Multiple offenders are treated with kid gloves. Law enforcement arrests them and the courts give them a light love pat.....

Are you living in the '50's?

North Carolina's Booze it? Lose it! program is probably the harshest in the country.

Unless your name is Otis and Sheriff Taylor is your cousin, you have no idea what you're talking about.

There is always a lot of talk about cell phones and their detriment to driving.

But little attention is paid to drunk driving. The papers are full of new cases each day. The penalty for drunk driving is a joke. Multiple offenders are treated with kid gloves. Law enforcement arrests them and the courts give them a light love pat.....

Maybe once the legislature fixes the cell phone situation they may take another look at drunk driving. But probably not as drunk driving is a rainmaker for many.

I get understand the texting. But hey guess what old timers I am fully capable of talking on my cell phone, with my hands, and driving at the same time. How about banning parents from trying to discipline two unruly kids in the backseat while driving, thats much more dangerous.

Here come the dimmwittocrats. Banning anything they find offensive, taxing any and all prosperity, spending money like drunken sailors on shore leave. Change! Who would've guessed that these compassionate lawyers cared soooo much about the chattel they 'represent'?

I hope that ALL these bills pass. I also wish the federal gov't would pass a bill that auto makers would have to install a device that automatically disables cell phones (unless hands free) while a vehicle is in gear.

Re: Perdue slams McCrory in Charlotte

Obama has endorsed Perdue for a reason...her PHD in education can't do a thing for a 30% drop out rate under Bush's misadministration. Check into every other state and see what their drop out rates are. I'm glad you don't agree with everything McCrory says b/c his idea of change in education is to take the calkalators (his pronunciation...see debates) out of elementary schools. He is so out of touch that the fact that his sister is a teacher is his resume and the closest he's been to a school since he graduated (he did graduate, didn't he...sometimes I wonder). His plans are those of GW Bush's, and you can clearly see that those ideas have not worked!!!!! Give Perdue a chance; she has great ideas for our students; why do you think the NEA sponsors her????? Do you remember that McCrory misspelled "governor" his first day out?
