A round of applause for straight ticket voting. Thanks to the success of Obama's "change" mantra, we are stuck with four more years of the "same old, same old" in state government.

Gercohen, no not everyone may vote. Incarcerated for example.

What I despised seeing was some Democratic handlers bringing close to dementia or alzheimer patients to the polls and then showing them where to vote.
A good idea is like ohio. make it mandatory to present a ID and to say your name at the polls. I also saw lots of out of state licensed cars voting in early voting. This kind of makes me think McCain should have won NC and was defrauded.

alaskan1 says
"Where does the constitution say everyone has the right to vote?"

Article VI, Section 1 of the North Carolina Constitution says it:

http://www.ncleg.net/Legislation/constitution/article6.html
Section 1. Who may vote.

"Every person born in the United States and every person who has been naturalized, 18 years of age, and possessing the qualifications set out in this Article, shall be entitled to vote at any election by the people of the State, except as herein otherwise provided."

(The "qualifications" are 30 days residence, the "except as otherwise provided" are felony convictions where rights have not been restored

Re: The Year of the Voter? MY CHRISTMAS WISH

Now to the elected....the people have given you a very generous opportunity to serve at great responsibility and expense. Please do not return this gift, break it, abuse it, or otherwise alter the merchandise. Hopefully we have selected our gift thoughtfully. We don't appreciate it when you try to return gifts like in the past. Now who is more blessed, the giver or the receiver?

Now we all know that some of you peeked at this gift before it was opened, but nonetheless a gift is a gift is a gift.....Happy New Year, with all the glitz!

Re: Obama and McCain early vote strategies

Dare County,a county that went for Bush in 2000 and 2004 gave Obama a 2% lead in early voting. The Obama campaign worked hard to get people out early and it worked. This may not hold up today but it surely lessened McCain's statewide advantage.

"DON'T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR BUSH....." Remember that "brilliant" bumper sticker(?) when Clinton defeated George Herbert B?????? The Right-wing fanatics of the Republican Party predicted the 'world would come to an end' if Clinton elected. "Don't Blame Me, I voted for Bush." How pathetic.
New decade, new election.... same tired, panicked... last-ditch, desperate act of desparation by the Republicans.
GOP's.... there aren't enough Catherine Harris's in the world.. to steal this one for you.....

Obviously you don't know much about history of fraudulent Democrat elections where dead people vote multiple times. The NY Boss Tweed Democrat Political Machine in the 1800's , the Chicago Daley Political Machine from the 1960's through today with his son the current corrupt Mayor Daley. And Huey P. Long the most famous ballot stuffer in La. history.
Sorry you haven't got an education. As with most Democrats " A mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste"

As they say in the corrupt Daley Political Machine hometown of Barack Obama, Chicago. Vote Early and Vote as many times as you can.
It's going to great to have the first corrupt Chicago democrat socialist politician as "President".

But does he like what North Carolina women are saying about him?

North Carolina:

Martha Jenkins, North Carolina Women for McCain state chairwoman: “Barack Obama chose Joe Biden to make up for his own lack of foreign policy expertise. He has absolutely no reason to criticize McCain’s pick of Palin. Governor Palin is infinitely more qualified than Barack Obama.

“In running this ad, Obama is acknowledging that Governor Palin is an effective and a positive part of John McCain’s candidacy. Otherwise, why focus on her at all? Barack Obama is using this ad to divert attention from the fact that the American public is realizing that Obama is just as radical as his associates, and that he lacks the experience and judgment to be President of the United States.”

Bill Clinton urged voters to consider Four Points in choosing a President:

* Philosophy - Obama's organizing philosophy is that America works from the ground up, not from the top down.

* Policy - Obama's policy ideas on the economy, education, health care, and energy are right for America now.

* Decision - Obama has demonstrated superior decision-making skills, e.g., his choice of Biden for VP, and his careful informed response to the financial crisis.

* Execution - In organizing and conducting an historically successful election campaign, Obama has demonstrated key talents as an executive.

... Clinton asked people to present these four ideas to voters until Election Day.
