There is also another great song out there that would be a great song for North Carolina. It is called North Carolina....The Place To Be, by Dick Barnes. Although more bluegrass than rock, if you just hear this song, you would know it would be perfect. I read on his website that it has been # 1 in over 10 countries. You have just got to hear this song!!!!

Link to the site:

What About Home in My Heart (North Carolina) by Claudia Church

I remember waking up
Running down a dirt road
Morning dew a shinin', watermelon by the wagon load
Little baby brother and my sisters in the shade
Listening to the crickets and the music that they made
Riding on a tractor with my granpa in the summertime
Cold bologna sandwich, green tomatoes on the garden vine
Billy Joe McMillan was the first boy that I ever knew
he moved to California and it broke my heart in...

North Carolina...your pine trees so tall
Your hills and your valleys, your cool waterfalls
Your Blue Ridge Mountains
Your fields and your streams
Are lost on the back roads that run through my dreams
Of North Carolina...Home in my heart

Skinny legs and barefoot on the top of an abandoned car
Pouring out my heart just like a country music singing star
Pinecone for a microphone
Full moon for a spotlight
Shining down from heaven, like it's smiling on me

North Carolina...your pine trees so tall
Your hills and your valleys, your cool waterfalls
Your Blue Ridge Mountains
Your fields and your streams
Are lost on the back roads that run through my dreams
Of North Carolina...Home in my heart

Although it seems like yesterday
I'm still a million miles away
Going to the ocean in my uncle's new sedan
Daddy's in the Army, there's a war in Vietnam
Mama kept us going with her sewing and a prayer
It's hard to be a family when your daddy's missing

North Carolina...your pine trees so tall
Your hills and your valleys, your cool waterfalls
Your Blue Ridge Mountains
Your fields and your streams
Are lost on the back roads that run through my dreams
Of North Carolina...Home in my heart

Home in my heart

Since my James Taylor suggestion was apparently yawn inspiring ;/, how about a little Southern Culture On The Skids?

I know foul language is frowned upon here Ryan, but you never said anything about not wearing a shirt. :)

Puddle of confusion

"The practice of the gym is that the pool is only used by the male senators, but that's not the policy." So says Eva Malicki, a spokeswoman for the Capitol architect's office. So Kay Hagan should feel totally welcome splashing among her saggy, shaggy and quite possibly nekkid male colleagues? Confident that the hide-bound, hiearchically obsessed senior members won't take it out on her sooner and later?

Policy or no, the practice of the Senate gym is repugnant, and your snark in this instance might be better aimed at those who've earned it.

I love it when you plants call talk radio. "I'm a life long republican, but this time I'm voting for Obama." Yah right. It's SO transparent.

Representative Republic

The United States of America was founded as a Representative Republic.
The founders were all too wary of direct rule or "Mob" rule of other types of democracies.

You might want to read several of today's Wall Street Journal articles. Several stories are analysis of Sen.Obama's proposals. Especially the article "The New New Deal" which compares FDR's policies to what Sen. Obama is proposing. While I am no fan of the current President or Wall Street crooks. It is possible that the automatic "I'll vote for the Party not in Power" is not the correct decision. Think Jimmy Carter after Watergate.

And no, I'm a libertarian and believe in Individual Freedoms above all.

It's interesting to watch how far people will bend to rationalize bad decisions. I was that person until recently. I voted for Bush twice. I felt it was my obligation as a lifelong Republican and former serviceman. I won't repeat that mistake by rewarding the next election to a small group of key players (politicians and executives) who undermined the bedrock philosophies of the Republican party by throwing good money out with the bad. Here lies the presently dead Republican fundamental philosophies of fiscal conservativism and deregulation. May they be smartly resurrected soon. www.republicansforobama.org
