Re: McCrory: ACORN registering illegally

I have just been out on the web and it does appear that the FBI might be investigating ACORN, but not for voter fraud. They might be investigated in regards to their low-income housing projects. There are a lot of blogs carrying the news that ACORN will be investigated tomorrow...but that tomorrow ranged from August - now.

Not sure what the law is in NC, but in most states all registration forms must be turned in even if the person turning them in knows they are false. ACORN tried to flag as many of the bogus forms as possible, but it is up to the state election board to verify the validity of each registration.

Plus there is no way that false registration forms could affect the outcome of an election...people who falsely register don't turn up to vote or if someone did turn up they have to produce ID.

I think this is another attempt by the Republicans to reduce the number of registered voters. This is nothing new. Low voter turnout favors the Repubs. I'm sure that both sides has engaged in less than Kosher voting tactics, but from the things I've read; I think the Republican party is guiltier of this than ACORN.

There were problems with ACORN in 2004 in Wake County when they turned in fake voter registration forms (the canvassers were being paid by the form which is an invitation to this kind of illegal activity). In reality, though, it was more a nuisance and expense to the Board of Elections than anything else, because even if the fake names had been entered onto the rolls, they weren't voting.

Hardly alterac. But I do support anyone eligible to vote doing so, don't you?

One thing to consider. We are talking about 100 voter registrations out of 27000 people registered by ACORN and out of 700000 statewide. So we are talking about less than 0.4 percent of the ACORN registration and 0.01 percent of all new registrations in NC. Hardly the vast "left-wing conspiracy" you all on the right believe there is.

You are just worried that the democrats might win in NC.

Hawke's memory

Poor Jack Hawke is having flashbacks to 1990 when Republican Tommy Pollard was on the DOT Board, Harvey Gantt was running against Jesse Helms' ("White Hands" ad), Hawke was head of the NC GOP and he sent out 150,000 postcards to black voters with false information. Read about GOP "Ballot Security Programs"

The foregoing examination of Republicans ballot security programs since the 1950s can be summarized succinctly. However legitimate the party’s desire to guard against Democratic election fraud, these programs have sometimes degenerated into efforts to suppress the votes of blacks and Latinos—often the poorest and most vulnerable among them. To political operatives this is apparently common knowledge, although Republican officials publicly deny it.

Hey Paul,

Instead of trolling around blogs why dont you actually work to try to persuade voters to elect you to the house.

Oh wait, you are in a district you have no chance of winning, so I guess there isnt much point.

Did David Kochman say that the articles about Sewell had no validity also? Or the other fundraiser for Easlry and Perdue that had to resign? It is proven that ACORN is and has committed voter registration fraud.

I do believe that the state needs to examine every voter registration in this state and require a government ID at the polling places to prevent further fraud.

Why is Bev ducking statewide debates?
