The one representative of Godless Americans was one of 40 different groups who were in attendance at that gathering. To carry on like it was the major part of the event is wrong.

Furthermore, what IS wrong with being an atheist? Isn't that protected under the Constitution and Bill of Rights? Isn't freedom of religion one of the basic principles this country was founded upon?

If we all have to believe and follow ONE particular type of religion, I didn't get the memo. Or is this now a fascist dictatorship, where we all have to march lock-step and believe the same thing?

I've noticed a pattern in how PPP releases their polling and I'm wondering why you don't just ask them for all their poll results at once. On Sept 29th, they released the poll numbers for President and Senate but held the numbers for the governors race a day...McCrory was in the lead. On Oct. 7th, they released the numbers for all three races on the same day...Bev was in the lead. Judging from their past history, I'd say they'll be releasing a poll with McCrory in the lead tomorrow. The question is, why not just ask them for all the poll numbers at once?

That's right Mrs. Hagan. NC can't be bought by Chuck Schumer's dirty money. For all this talk of change and new politics, Hagan's operated an almost entirely negative campaign that's going to have the wheels fall off come November 4. Let's let Mrs. Hagan help Pat McCrory fix Raleigh next January.

The poll is by a very conservative organization. Are you saying it is a fantasy that Dole is even that close?

I don't disagree that the arrangement of districts plays a strong role in a candidate's chances. In fact, that's probably why we end up with someone like tangoz running at all. Serious minded, politically or intellectually astute persons are reluctant to mount a challenge.

But it isn't as though Dan Blue were unqualified or ineffective. He's very qualified, very effective, well regarded and for good reason. I'm not hearing anyone say what a shame it is that poor Tangoz doesn't have a real shot. It's a danged blessing.

The districts for the North Carolina Legislature are so gerrymandered (apologies to Gerrys everywhere) that there are very few really competitive districts. We need to change the way districts are drawn (both state & federal) to create true competition. Time for politicians (of both parties) to stop picking their voters and voters to start picking their politicians.

Gee, I don't think Hagan "forgot" to mention her voting record with Basnight and Rand. After all, they're both very popular, very successful, smart, determined and effective legislators. I don't think their constituents are unhappy with their records at all. Sadly, for Dole, people aren't giving such such high marks to Bush these days. He isn't popular, he isnt successful, he isn't smart, and the only determination or effectivness he has demonstrated is to drive this country into an unjust and unjustified war that we're still mired in, and to usher in a major economic recession.

And I think there's a pretty good reason Blue isn't worried about his own race. In fact, in all fairness, can it be called a race?

Isn't Blue pretty confident, with good reason, that voters recognize his worth and are proud to reelect him and that his opponent is noticed chiefly for repeating (and mangling) rhetoric he heard from someone on TV or the radio that he only half understands himself, and for posting senseless, simpleminded rants on blogs that make his fellow GOPers cringe with embarrassment?

At the AKA Sorority function last night Kay Hagan attacked Dole with the same talking points from her commercial. She talked about Dole's effectiveness rating and voting with Bush 90% of the time. Hagan forgot to mention that she voted with Marc Basnight and Tony Rand 100% of the time and also voted for that $9 million jet Easley had to cancel. Hagan was very negative and condescending towards Dole while talking to a small probably receptive audience.

My opponent Dan Blue was too busy talking about Voting for Obama to be worried about his own race. And I got Vernon Malone angry at me because I said that the leadership in Raleigh was responsible for our failures on Mental healthcare, Roads, Schools, and many other failures. I did mention to a voter that it took a Democratic consultant to start the downfall of Jim Black, not the General Assembly leadership. Malone did not ask for the expulsion of Representative Wright when overwhelming evidence caused the full House to eject him. Malone only wanted a slap on the wrist of Wright. Maybe corrupt is a label that DOES fit the leadership of the Democratic Party in Raleigh.

Yes Carlton, we got a poll wrong and took responsibility for it, made changes, and came back and had the most accurate poll of anyone for all three primaries we surveyed after it, per the scorecards put together by our competitor SurveyUSA. Some of us learn from our mistakes and some of us spend our days making anonymous blog postings and accomplishing nothing. Enjoy yourself.

To the other commenter, if you pay any attention you will see that we almost always release President and Senate one day, and the rest of the state stuff the next. Nice conspiracy theory, but it will be out this afternoon.

Sorry to inform you Mr. Jensen that your polls were dead wrong on Pennsylvania if we're going to get down to specifics. Your last poll before the April 22 primary stated that Obama had closed the gap with Hillary when instead she blew him out of the water by 10 points. You were right on North Carolina's primary but inflated Obama's chances elsewhere.

Sorry to inform you, Carlton, that PPP was more accurate than Rasmussen both in North Carolina and nationally during the primary season. And they have Obama and Hagan winning North Carolina too. Nice try.
