Re: Rules changed on state employee

How many of you have already forgotten the first article? Please don't!
Someone, i.e. governor, Bev Perdue must take a stand and listen to the silenced voices of honest working people,it's time for change.Ray Mitchell and his henchmen need to be held accountable for their actions. It is incorrect to say 3 out of 4 people are awaiting Mr.Vanessen's return. Why not ask the inspectors and the office staff. That's if they have not been gagged. It's 3-4 people who do not want him back due to improprieties, lies and deceptive tactics to get him out. How awkward would that be? They've been told to re-employ this individual, but won't due to office politics. If Douglas Vanessen was guilty of not reprimanding certain inspectors, then what happened to their supervisors? They were promoted! Sounds like another CEO rip off scheme with our nation's largest banks.Office politics! Ray Mitchell used this same lame and tired excuse to put his puppets in place, including Joyce Lippard. She down grades schools that does not meet her standard, socio-economic standards that is and was flown on Mitchell's private plane to grade, inspect and open one of Mitchell's family salons.Which was allegedly, already opened illegally. They fired an
inspector without warning or reprimands after 20 years of service, while he mother lay dying on her death bed. I understand that North Carolina is a hire-at-will,fire-at-will state, but do not abuse your employees. This is why workplace violence is on the rise. The work of inspectors were constantly undermined and unappreciated, e.g.at a public hearing, one board
cried as a habitual offender, defended her reasons for allowing an unlicensed individuals to work in her shop. This is not to be tolerated. All
cosmetologist are educated to the process. There is no reason why the executive directors position or any other position should be held by cosmetologist. The office is there to implement the policies and laws according to N.C.State Board of Cosmetics Art Examiners. The problems happens when you have the chairman and his henchmen trying to micromanage the inspectors, office staff and manipulating laws with the aid of his personal attorney. It is time for rules to be amended and implemented. The chairman should not be a school or salon owner. This brings about conflict of interest. There should be a manicurist and esthetician on the board to cover all aspects of the industry.Laws were passed, cosmetologists can perform all like duties of those named above. Although, cosmetologists are not required to complete the same amount of school hours as those who are licensees. Wake up call! This industry is operating under one mandate only! Public Safety!!! Our clients come first! Proper licensing and operating under competency! This industry is not to be used for personal gain and intimidation of staff should not be tolerated.

maybe some tube tieing on females at age 14? sounds like a viable option along with vasectomies...the tubes can be untied upon marriage of course.

This line of Letterman's will probably go down in history as one of the classics. It is very good indeed!

Which brings to mind: there has been some talk that abortions may be included in Kennedy/Obamacare. How about vasectomies? Looks like in the long run the investment in a vasectomy on the front end would reduce costs on the back end, so to speak.

Your post contains the following: "The videos were nominally meant to encourage state employees submit money saving ideas for cash prizes."

Heck, if the state employees were smart enough to have money saving ideas they would be smart enough to be working in the private sector. LOL

Yes, Elizabeth Edwards was on tv to talk about health care. That said, she could have easily told Larry King when he asked about her personal life, something to the effect of "I'm here to talk about an important issue for all Americans, health care, not my personal life." A totally acceptable response. But, Elizabeth Edwards love the limelight and she quite obviously relishes talked about her personal life. The problem with the Edwards is that they made their personal story, including her own battle with cancer, part of their public life. They did it, because they know that a lot of people are suckers for a sad story like losing your son or facing a terrible health crisis. It was a way to get more people on their side and behind Edwards as a candidate.

sarahsinger says: "Sky is incorrect stating EE has not been out debating healthcare. She does it on a regular basis, a couple times a month" What special expertise in health care does EE have - she would never have been heard at all except for the fact that she's married to a former US senator. All she does is parrot ObamaCare. So that's news?

Glad you're familiar with her schedule. Maybe you could get the N&O to publish it so we can all be enthralled by the next installment of the Edwards soap drama, since EE's speaking engagements strangely coincide with new stories involving Rielle Hunter. Any fool knows that the timing of her interview by Larry King was planned purposely to counter the story that JE was moving Rielle to Wilmington.

As much as I've criticized JE for the arrogant louche liar that he is, she's not pure & innocent either - she's his enabler. She should take a lesson from Jenny Sanford - at least she has some class & character, despite her husband going on a loony mid-life crisis & throwing away his career, his reputation, and his family.

The public is too hard on politicians and their loose moral values. Morality should be separated from politics. What is wrong with a politician who engages in adultery. The adultery laws are outdated. Same sex marriage has put an end to all those old ideas. Many politicians spend their time in office slinking around on the sly trying to cut deals. So why should they not slink around with other sex partners. We need to give up on the whole idea of marriage and just have fun. High moral values are for whimps. If it feels good then do it. We need to quit pretending that our nation has high moral values and just do what comes naturally. And get off John's case. He was just having some fun. The sick people are the ones who cannot understand this!

As for her ongoing battle with cancer, she told King: "The numbers don't look that optimistic, but I feel good."

The Republican response on HealthCare reform was as expected.

All those who actually watched Elizabeth on Larry King know she was on the show to debate health care with Tommy Thompson. I thought it was inappropriate of Larry to even ask the personal questions in the last 30 seconds but am not surprised by the reactions on this thread implying it was 30 minutes of personal Edwards q and a. Let's at least be honest about her reason for being there!

Sky is incorrect stating EE has not been out debating healthcare. She does it on a regular basis, a couple times a month. Did you read the article about her appearing before Congress a few weeks ago discussing the effect of health expenses on bankruptcies? No, probably not.

YOU on this thread are perpetuating this story as much as the National Enquirer. Get your own lives and watch your own steps.

One of the concerns about politicians not being faithful to their spouses is they have an obvious lack of self-control, and we do not need people like this passing laws which legislates to the rest of us of what is right and what is wrong when they themselves do not have the fortitude to control their own morality. "
