I think I've said this before, but I'll say it again, since no one seems to have commented on this quote. Good for Rand. His reaction to the news story about a family reunion involving both black and white members of some long lost cousins is refreshing.

It wasn't so long ago at all that the fact that whites and blacks belong to one another's families could not or would not be acknowledged by "polite" society.

Now is the time for us to be having these kinds of conversations and re-discoveries of our roots. If we don't take advantage of the opportunity for embracing change that Barak Obama's candidacy represents, we're missing out on one of the most important moments in the history of this country.

My last name of Terrell has quite a few African-American ancestors. My mother's maiden name is Williams and is know to have quite a few ancestors of African-American descent.

So what was the point of this article? I though Senator Rand is running unopposed this fall? So again, what is the point of this article?

Kudos to Tony Rand for his interest and enthusiasm in family ties that include African Americans. He sets a good example for a lot of us.

Wow, what an opportune tie in for Tony as a NC democrackkk...you'd think he might have chosen discretion over flamboyance.
