Where's Beverly with Jet?

Beverly had a perfect opportunity to distance herself from Easley over the past couple of weeks by publicly raising a concern about the state's purchase of a jet. Also to demonstrate the importance of managing the state's expenditures during very difficult economic times. Buy why not a peep either before or after the press picked up on the planned purchase? Because the jet must have been a big part of her vision for how she was going to get out among the middle class, at least at 30,000 feet.

Just another example of being a Raleigh insider. While she talks big, has she ever bucked the entrenched status quo? Watch out for your wallets.

RTB can you fact check this?

Easley on voter suppresion: "Well we always worry about that, we have seen it so many times from the Republican Party."

I do not recall any published or documented efforts of the Republican Party to suppress voters in NC. Matter of fact the only times I can think of voter suppression efforts goes all the way back to when the Democrats tried to suppress the efforts of the fusionist alliance between blacks and whites.

Easley is making false statements to make his and my state look like a bunch of backwards hillbillies. I can't wait for him to retire to Southport.

HAHAHA I haven't seen so many missteps out of a Democratic gubernatorial nominee since Rufus in '84. Keep trying to dodge and weave Dumplin, your leaving McCrory's path to the Governor's Mansion wide open.

Beverly's actions versus words

I can't reconcile Beverly's actions as Lt. Gov versus her apparent lies now....
The Charlotte Observer, the N&O's sister paper had this quote about Beverly last Sunday on their editorial page:
"Perdue for years has been part of a Senate leadership that secretly slipped items into the budget at the last minute and stifled debate."

Those are some pretty strong words from a paper that admits that they will endorse mostly democrats. They must be able to back up that statement.

Yet, Beverly's quote to the N&O editorial staff is "I'm a free agent...I have not been part & parcel to anything in the administration. That's the way it is."

Unbelievable that the N&O let's her get away with this.

N&O: Taking Perdue seriously?

I am sorry but how can either the N&O or North Carolina's citizens take Beverly seriously? Her responses to the editorial board are pathetic:
- Wow! why don't you go for the jugular
- Well, he's dead
- No John, that's not fair
- Can't name the specific issues that she says that Easley has "done some exceptionally important things and I'm proud of his leadership on those issues"

If this is how she chooses to respond to direct questions from journalists that are looking for any way to support her, how can we expect her to address the real problems facing North Carolina today?

N&O: if you endorse Beverly, you will share part of the blame for the past 8 years in NC as well as our difficulties over the next 4.

Look, you can talk about Mavretic until your fingers bleed and I'm OK with that. But you can't just repost the same comment on every post. We have a policy against that.

Bev just wants us to trust her and once she is elected, THEN she will be open and accessable. How about delivering some answers and access during the campaign? How about showing up for the debates and talk about what YOU are going to do as Governor, not hide behind you attack ads on McCrory.

Access to the media is all well and good, but what about accessibility to the voters in NC? This appears to be just another hollow and empty promise by Lt Governor Perdue and her campaign. All North Carolineans deserve access to Ms Perdue now during the campaign, not just access to her via the media.

If Ms Perdue were truly serious about being available to we 'real people', she would participate in state-wide debates with the other two candidates. But instead she appears to be trying to win the election through her select appearances at fundraisers and her negative campaign advertisements.

Beverly Perdue is a liar …..“You can't trust her, I just call it like I see it” THESE ARE THE WORDS OF Joe Mavretic, the former DEMOCRATIC speaker of the NC house. Here is the video of Mr. Mavretic saying these words and explaining why he said it. The entire clip is 6 minutes long, forward it to 5 minutes if you just want to hear the part where he says WE CANT TRUST BEVERLY PERDUE!!!

Where was this belt tightening during the Budget process in the General Assembly? This proves the point that the democrats are just raising taxes and spending all of our money willy nilly.

Don't stop at 3%, why not 5%?

Carlton, do you realize that your first sentence doesn't actually make any sense?

And by the way, just fyi: Allen wasn't tossed out for a made up word. He was tossed out for being a moron. I haven't seen any "slander" here, but maybe you think "slander" is a made up word, too, and that you can just throw it around to mean anything you want.

Something tells me that no one in this country would ever beg for Bush to come back to office. Even if people found they didn't like Obama, I don't think they'd say, "You know, Bush guy, the one who drove this country into the ditch, made a laughingstock of us all, took us to war on false pretenses, led us into recession -- yeah, let's have him back."

But dream on (when you're able to sleep).
