Re: Would you rather have cash?

Neither.

I'd rather have a gift that someone wants to give me.
Cash/gift cards tend to be gifts as a result of an implied or social obligation.
Something someone makes and comes from a desire and thought is much more valuable.

No, its not a retailer, but this smells like someone asking this question wants to tax them or make them report income so that they can be taxed. It might even be that the Newspaper industry is upset about their lost revenue, I mean why would someone pay the N & O $50.00 for a 10 day add with 3 lines when they can advertise for free on Craigslist. Had the newspapers not been so greedy Craigslist might not have ever caught on.

No, it is just a place for classified ads which happen to be free to post.

When I use to go to Ohio and take my parents out to eat at their favorite cafeteria they would always order the "Jack Benny" portion of the meal. I always thought it was about money (that smaller portion was less costly) but as I am getting to their age I understand better,,,,it is not the money but the portion size. Hopefully some of the restaurants in this area will get that message. A big portion...take home at least half....eat it for 2 days,,,and you hope you never see that again.

Seats for short rests.

Larger labels, especially nutrition labels.

More low sodium food products.

Wider aisles.

This isn't exactly the same, but I remember back when NoFo at the Pig (in Raleigh's Five Points) was actually a Piggly Wiggly grocery store. It was fantastic because they had a lot of elderly people who shopped there, so the meat case always featured small portion packages of meat. It was also great for single people, who didn't need a value pack of 25 chicken legs.

That's one adjustment stores could make -- offer smaller packages in the meat department -- WITHOUT JACKING UP THE PRICE.

Re: Verizon's $1.99 'data usage' charge...

Thanks for the post. I discovered one of these $1.99 data usage charges on my husband's account last month. I assumed it was something he had done. Come to find out that he had no idea what that would have been from. I immediately called Verizon, and they removed the charge without much of an arguement. I am thankful for the post and for Verizon's good customer service.

My wife fought this charge with Verizon several months ago. They told her it was for texting. She does not text nor needs to receive texts. She had to get them to block all texting on her account to take care of this.

i strongly urge EVERYONE to go online to the attorney general's consumer protection division and download the complaint form. Fill it out (yes, it a pain) and send it in......you can't imagine how powerful this is. I was locked in mortal combat (and a wicked customer service complaint mobeus loop) with SUNCOM regarding similar things. As SOON as they got the notice from the Attorney General's office, the zeroed my account and apologized.

this works...

I, too, dealt with this for many months with many calls for reimbursements until I finally spoke with a supervisor. He informed me that the culprit is the picture/video messaging which in some instances accesses the internet "through the back door". In order to stop the charges I had to have a National Access Block put on my account. It stopped the charges but we also lose picture/video messaging. He agreed that it didn't seem right, took my formal complaint, and suggested I also submit an email complaint via the Verizon website. Maybe if we all do this, they can fix this very lucrative software "glitch" of theirs.

My sister is a stay at home mom. She brings her 2 kids frequently.

They refer to the mall as "The Museum" -- you can look at things but not take them home :)

I have a 3 and a half year old son - we love the mall! We hang out there for 4 - 5 hours at a time and usually only buy lunch or a drink if we bring our own food...
we have fun at the train table at the bookstore, story time, the playground and get a little exercise in an air conditioned environment, & when he gets sleepy, I window shop - since it's a pain to balance anything on the stroller handles and I don't want to wake him up, i don't end up buying anything most of the time.
we have so much fun!
