Does this mean that you'll now be reporting on EIA reports when they can inform debate on issues relevant to North Carolina?

Back when we were having a (frankly ridiculous) debate on offshore drilling in North Carolina, I was continually badgering you in comments to include information from the EIA. Their reports showed that offshore drilling wouldn't have an effect on gas prices. However, you continually made posts about offshore drilling without providing this context. As a result, you had numerous uninformed readers who continued to support offshore drilling based off the misinformed notion that offshore drilling would lead to lower gas prices.

The ties of the Obama administration and General Electric says all I need to hear about Obama's policies. The fact that Immelt is fashioning his corporations image to accept billions in "GREEN" money from the government is suspect. NBC and MSNBC are part of the GE corporation that has given such blatant favorable coverage to Obama. This is to gain the GREEN money and is blatant pay to play. And with Immelt being appointed to one of Obama councils is more proof to the folly of the picking winners policy of Obama. The connections of the Democrats and Obama with ACORN, FANNY MAE ,and FREDDIE MAC is further prooft to the corruption of modern day politics.

It is obvious to anyone not drinking the far left kool-aid that all of this is quid pro quo and has nothing to do with energy policy or saving the environment. It is strictly about power and greed. It is the same CAP and TRADE, healthcare, and other government policies of the Obama administration.

Once again, Civitas has used creative questioning to produce the results they wanted. First of all, they give the respondents three choices, two of which will (later) be combined to represent the same thing: approval for drilling. But if you look at the middle, more moderate choice, which garnered a higher percent than either of the other two:

"2. Drilling for oil and natural gas should only be allowed off the coast of North Carolina if it is out of sight from the shore."

Choosing this option doesn't automatically equate to "approval". For at least some respondents anyway, this choice could easily represent the opinion, "If you're going to do it, I don't want to see it."

Most people consider themselves moderate. If given a choice between two extremes or a middle ground, they will often choose the middle, because it gives them some psychological wiggle room. Civitas knows this, and they take advantage of it.

Francis, if you're reading this, please explain how the restrictive quality of "should only be allowed" translates to "overwhelming support"?

Drilling for natural gas and oil is a lot cheaper than erecting wind turbines off the coast.Last time I looked we live in a free society and can drive anything we deem fit to our lifestyle..I know all the rabid libs. would prefer we all just bicycle, unless you are a politician, or "gated lib." and can afford jets! Its nice to see Hagan represent what the MAJORITY of North Carolinian's want!

"Drill baby drill" is not an energy policy. We import 2/3 of our oil... we would have to TRIPLE domestic production in order to stop importing oil. We ain't never gonna stop importing oil as long as Americans decide they want to drive gas guzzling SUVs. If Americans really cared about energy security and not buying oil from unfriendly countries, they would get rid of their gas guzzlers. How many SUV drivers don't even understand the hypocrisy of driving a gas guzzler with a "support our troops" magnet on the rear hatch?

He certainly doesn't have to listen to you, who probably doesn't even understand why the two party system is necessary. I suppose you want every senator and representative to be a democrat, or to have extreme liberal views regardless of what anyone else in America wants. What is a "Republican Enabler" to one man is a Moderate Democrat who doesn't wear a tin-foil hat to another man :).

In NC, to a republican a liberal is any one to the left of Hitler!

Get out of here will that Pickens plan crap, that's all we need is another Paultard trollin about. I'm not opposed to her keeping the door open for less environmentally intrusive extraction methods. But she has already disapointed me when she just arbitrarily jumped on that Evan Bayh Blue Dog RINO train crap he half-bakedly concocted a week or so ago. Seriously they need to firmly shake the hell out of these republican enablers and apologists.

Of course Obama said during the election he would welcome HIGH gasoline and diesel prices at the pump. If you voted for Obama you have no right to complain when gas prices goes back above $4.00 a gallon.
