What's Perdue doing during crisis? NOTHING

Dear Beverly:
You seem to be focusing all of your time and energy on trying to communicate what the Mayor is or is not doing regarding the various problems facing our state. But even you state that he had a press conference on Thursday expressing his concern for the problems and stating his understanding that gas supplies were on the way (ironically based on information from Easley).

You would have a leg to stand on if you had in fact been doing anything about it yourself or said anything recently other than the following:
- Oh, just go out and fill your gas tank to the top, even if you don't need it
- There are no problems with either our banks or North Carolina's economy
- Oh, we have job losses in North Carolina?

The Mayor's campaign has always been focused on dealing with the State's problems and that is his focus now with our immediate problems. Until you prove that you are focused on problem solving versus just knocking your opponent, please get back in the back seat with Easley or whomever!

Perdue Response to Economic Crisis

From NCGOP press release today:
On Friday, Beverly Perdue discussed the current economic crisis with the Greenville Daily Reflector. "North Carolinians can take comfort in knowing the major banks that make North Carolina their base of operations are stable, she said." (Burns, Bobby, "Bev Perdue drops by," 9/29/08) Today, Wachovia was bought out by Citigroup in a deal brokered by the FDIC.

Perdue, while speaking of job losses in North Carolina, also said the state was "fundamentally healthy and on the right track." (Burns, Bobby, "Bev Perdue drops by," 9/29/08)

August marked the eighth consecutive month of job losses in the state. The August unemployment rate of 6.9 percent marked the highest jobless rate since January 2002. ("NC unemployment rate reaches 6.9 percent," WRAL.com, 9/19/08)

A poll conducted by Civitas in September found that 48 percent of North Carolinians feel the state is on the wrong track while only 35 percent believe the state is headed in the right direction. (September 2008 Decisionmaker Poll, 9/24/08)

You quote NC Policy Watch? Are you kidding? That is a far left wing group financed by far left wing groups to screw numbers in their direction. I used to live in Virginia, Texas, and Florida. Two of these states DO NOT HAVE State income taxes.

Civitas(http://www.nccivitas.org/media/press-releases/2-3rds-nc-voters-say-taxes-are-too-high)

Compared to its neighbors in the Southeast, North Carolina currently has the highest corporate tax rate (6.9 percent), the highest marginal income tax rate (7.75 percent), the second-highest motor fuels tax (30.15 cents per gallon), and the second highest sales tax (6.75 percent).

Paul, your research skills show why you would be a horrible public official.

http://www.ncpolicywatch.com/cms/2008/08/12/the-shaky-tax-foundation/

"The Foundation's 2008 state tax ranking report released last week show North Carolina has lower taxes than Arkansas, Georgia, and Virginia, which at last glance were all Southeastern states.

The report also includes rankings for previous years. North Carolina had lower taxes in 2006 than Arkansas for example, but higher rates than Georgia and Virginia, states which the Foundation now says tax have higher taxes than North Carolina"

"As the Center points out, the 2007 Foundation report said that Vermont had the highest taxes in the country in 2006 and 2007. The 2008 report ranks Vermont 4th and 6th in those same years"

Bev took credit for everything under the sun and none of the blame in last nights debate. She did admit to taking a part in the increasing number of people losing their health care here in North Carolina.
And let's not forget the subpar schools she played a part in as a member of the State Board of Education.
And why didn't Bev push for cutting a bloated state budget as a means to cutting our taxes. We are the highest taxed state in the south- from Texas to florida and up to Virginia.

As someone interested in the truth I am wondering if Pat McCrory reads a newspaper. Its not coordination to read about something in a newspaper and react to that. Lets give Patty the benefit of the doubt though. Not having left Charlotte (for anything besides taxpayer funded vacations to Europe and this campaign) in the past 10 years, its not a surprise that he doesnt understand campaign finance law.

As a NC State House candidate I am calling on the State Board of Elections to investigate Beverly Perdue's campaign for governor. Oh wait, i forgot that the SBOE is headed by a appointee of the current Governor. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Good at least he did not charge us $200K and rent limo's and five star hotels like Easley's wife did to let the ignorant tax payers foot the bill.

I look forward to seeing the logs of Bev Perdue's travel during the past eight years. I doubt all of her trips traversing the state at tax payers expense were all related to her official Lt. Governor duties.

Are they forthcoming? I'm sure the Lt. Gov's office will release them to the public in keeping with her commitment to open and transparent government.

I was reading along and getting real concerned that there was something "untoward" in all this. But then it was all cleared up for me when you wrote:

".....and it was approved by the city attorney."

That pretty much settles it for me. Approval by the city attorney ranks right up there with the truthful information I get when I drink coffee at Bojangles. It just don't get no better than that.

Thanks for clearing it up for us.

I justed picked my self up afet ROTFL. Bev the PAC-Woman is the HYPOCRITE!. She says one thing and does another. Complains about the RGA
$$$ and look at the crap that is running and she says nothing. Why doesn't she enter to real debates and be open like she says she will be. What not enter into debates instead of hiding behind expensive 30 second TV ads. Be open to the "working families" she talks about she is fighting for. Tell us about the "world class schools" she wants for our children. While she has been LT. Gov. she she did basically nothing on while she was on the State Board of Education. Can Bev Perude stand up before the "working class families" of NC and tell us who she is? Why don't all candidates give or tell PACs to use the money for "working families" who need it and go before the voters of this state in a series of debate. It time for candidates to be transparent. Government is for whoever can raise the most $$$ and slam their opponents with twisted information.

The head of the SBOE is a Democratic appointee, he should bending over backwards sifting through this shell game. This is how corporations avoid paying taxes. They set up a shell corporation in a country where they do not have to pay our income taxes. The deputy of the SBOE is just towing the line.

I would have posted earlier but I've just picked myself up after ROTFL. The irony of an anonymous poster "Senate" railing about disclosure and mystery is just too hilarious.

Here's the filed information. All in order. If you want to find out more about DGA and NEA go search at the IRS. According to Kim Strach the organization itself has not met the threshold for registration.

It's all just a shell game with both parties. They write the laws, they write ethic laws, if they don't like something they re-write. All just one big joke in Raleigh. It's pathetic.
