We have fought Islamic nations before, twice. They lasted 32-years and spanned four presidents, starting with George Washington. Islamic fundamentalist have tried to conquer the world three times. This is their third try. It is their and our history, read it in David Barton’s WallBuilders 2006 winter newsletter titled A Muslim Sworn Into Congress, it states, “The Barbary Powers conflict began during the American Revolution when Muslim terrorists from four different Islamic nations (Tunis, Morocco, Algiers, and Tripoli) began making indiscriminate attacks against the property and interests of what they claimed to be “Christian” nations (America, England, France, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, etc.).”

Carolynshaw - Your's is an outrageous accusation. You are using Guilt by Association - a principal that led to countless lynchings by the Ku Klux Klan! You should be ashamed - and the N&O should refuse to publish remarks like yours. Senator Shaw has a long and distinguished record of service to North Carolina and Cumberland County. The facts that he is black and Muslim prove that the arguments in your libelous statement and the thesis of the racial, religious and culturally prejudiced diatribe, Muslim Mafia, are rubbish.

Will anyone in N.C. State Government or the News and Observer address the fact that N.C. Senator Larry Shaw was elected Board Chairman of CAIR in March, 2009? There appears to be a concerted effort in Raleigh to ignore this fact and the implications of Senator Shaw's involvement with CAIR and his longtime membership in the N.C. General Assembly. I am glad Senator Myrick is actively involved with exposing CAIR as the terrorist organization that it is and hope any information regarding Senator Shaw which needs to be revealed to North Carolinians is made public.

I suggest the Muslim community and Islamic supporters read an interesting account of our history with Islam by researching the TWO wars we had with four Islamic nations when this country was formed. It is interesting to read the garbage being printed about how it is America’s fault for the war on terrorism because we are in the Middle East. Bull sh&^ and pig do-do. The first account I found is when Islamic pirates hijacked a ship in 1625 and sold the sailors at a slave auction………

I first read about the Barbary War(s) in the late 1950s, when I was in World History in high school. War with Muslim terrorists certainly is not new. The fight began even before this country was formed and lasted for 32-years! In the mid-1800s we continued to pay the Muslim terrorists annual “tribute and ransom” first agreed in the mid-1780s about $1 million—20% of the federal budget. (For fiscal year 2007, 20 percent of the U.S. revenues would equal $560 billion.)
The war with Muslim terrorists began even before this was even formed in 1776. These Muslim terrorists represented the governments of Algiers, Morocco, Tunis, and Tripoli.
