Again what's the problem? He was leading a national organization to help gain some influence for Charlotte in DC. Way back in 2000!!!

Until you prove me otherwise, I still submit you are biased to the left as you print every bit of insignificant crap given to you by Beverly's campaign (including why did you have to promote the "bushes" that every reporter that Easley & Perdue have under their wings received - that's not news!), when you will not make your readers aware of news like the following: (particularly given the recent panic around the gas shortages, she is not showing the type of leadership that we need in Raleigh right now):

During an interview on WBT Radio in Charlotte the day that Ike hit, Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue advised motorists to get out and “get our gas tanks as full as they’ll let us do it during in the next 24 or 48 hours” due to Hurricane Ike. When questioned by host Al Gardner if this would create a panic, Perdue flip-flopped and said people should not overact and “there is no need for anybody to rush right out.”

Below is a partial transcript from Charlotte’s Morning News on WBT Radio, 8/12/08:

Beverly Perdue: “… this is a temporary price gouge, because that’s what it is, folks trying to get the most money they can get out of the limited capacity.”

Al Gardner: “You bet… just 30 seconds left. Who should do what about that?”

Beverly Perdue: “I think we all need to get out and get our, uh, get our gas tanks as full as they’ll let us do it during in the next 24 or 48 hours. And then we continue to watch what happens in the Gulf. Then, then the whole question becomes on Sunday to assess the damage. And from there we know what we have to do; I mean the country has this, we all know this, uh supply, this emergency supply that they can let go and this would be a time that the president and the Congress should have to authorize us using…”

Al Gardner: “But very quickly, Lt. Governor Perdue, if we’re urging everybody to go out and fill their tank right now in the next 24 hours wouldn’t that by definition create a panic?

Beverly Perdue: “Oh, oh I don’t mean that at all, and I didn’t mean to imply that. What I would do is to be very cautious about it not to overreact – if you need gas get some, but there is no need for anybody to rush right out because this is not going to be long term. Uh, the country has this supply that they’ve kept in waiting for this so I, uh, the truckers here, the folks who are on the road, find gas available, but what I was trying to say is don’t be concerned that you’re not going to be able to find it somewhere. It’s that there is still is a supply in this country; it’s not like last night while we were asleep somebody sucked all the oil out of the tanks all over the country. But it has been raised a buck and it’s really hard.”

I am fact-checking Perdue's recent ad about McCrory's ties to Bush. The Republican Mayors and Local Officials group plays a role in that, so I am first writing about how McCrory came to be with that group.

The caricature was a mistake. I clicked the wrong box in the blogging software. It's been fixed. Thanks for pointing that out.

Ryan, please help me understand the point of this article and to top it off, you show a picture of Beverly?! For whatever reason, did Beverly and her office send this to you to post, but why? If anything, McCrory demonstrates that he has developed some long term expertise regarding energy & the environment (versus Beverly just deciding that she has always been green and for energy). What terrible knowledge for a Governor to have, particularly these days!

Bravo to the Mayor for becoming President of the Republican Mayors in fricking 2000! I would hope that my local politicians would use leadership positions to lobby for their constituents. Instead, why don't you point out that either Obama has no respect for Beverly or she is doing nothing to build future political connections.

Incidentally, I had 4 long term democrats this weekend tell me that they were voting for Obama and McCrory. I can see why they would want to...If by chance Obama wins, at least McCrory will be working it in DC for North Carolina's citizens. The same can't be said for Perdue!

Look at the context of what Mayor McCrory was saying in 2004: Bush had been a very good friend to Mayors. McCrory has known first hand the importance of protecting our cities through his leadership on Homeland Security.

Please help me understand what Beverly has done to help North Carolina's cities during her 8 years in office. Again, another red herring to hide the fact that she has shown no leadership since she has been Lt. Governor. When has she taken a stand on anything other than the status quo!

One final thought: Beverly even agreed with Pat during a recent debate (one that she showed up for) that some great work had been done by Bush and the Mayors around Brownfield legislation.

"It gets to be ubsurd, I dont mind paying for breakfast, or paying for twice what it is worth, but you have to wonder why?"

Mr. Blue, you have to wonder why?? Are you kidding?? You don't understand why it is wrong for a person in your position to receive "anything of value" from a person or entity that has issues before you to decide? That says to me that you are in your position simply to receive the "perks" and have no interest in doing the things you politicians always espouse, "doing the work of the people."

Bull. You politicians make me sick.

Mr Terrell, You certified on February 7, 2008 that your committee intends to neither receive nor expend more than $3,000 yet you are soliciting donations of up to $4,000 on your various websites. You are also soliciting donations on Facebook and on other sites eg:

I really need to get off to a good start for the 3rd Campaign Finance Quarter. Please send what you can. Let’s defeat Dan Blue in November. If you would like to donate, please send donations to:

You have filed no campaign reports since February 7, 2008 yet you persist in soliciting funds:

No donation is too small. Little is much when the Lord is in it! I need your vote , support and your prayers. Spread the WORD! Thanks Paul

You either have very little support or you are not properly reporting the contributions you have received or the expenditures you have made.

Next you'll be telling us Dan Blue is a liar because he's not actually blue.

What's wrong Dan, can't a wealthy lawyer like you afford breakfast? I see that you went to the Democratic National Convention. I assume you still pulled in all of your endorsements even though were not in town for some of them.

Are you going to cut taxes for 95% of us like Obama is? Are you going to get universal healthcare passed in NC like Obama is nationally? Or better yet, are you going to clean up corruption in the NC Democratic party like Palin did in the Alaska republican Party?

What was that Dan? No, No, and No? Well you have had 25 years to do the right thing. And all you have managed is a Mental healthcare boondoggle, a 21.4 billion dollar budget with billions in additional borrowing, and a probation system that has gotten people killed.

I was a McCarthy volunteer with the Connecticut delegation in Chicago in 1968 (a history teacher at my high school was a delegate and invited students out to the convention, a bunch of us brought sleeping bags and shared a room and I handed out leaflets for Gene.) If you went out the front door of the Congress Pick Hotel you got teargassed. I came to Chapel Hill as a freshman three weeks later. By the way, I am on the Rules Committee, not Platform.

Of course she won't attend the convention. She hasn't been in NC since her last election in 2002, so she needs to remember where everything is. Hallaway's quote is laughable. Dole hasn't lived in NC since she graduated from Duke.

Whether Dole attends the convention or not does not change the fact that she is a rubberstamp for the incompetent and lying Bush administration - when you vote 92% with the President, you can't then claim that you are not in lock-step with the neocon agenda that has driven our economy to near ruin. Dole needs to be held responsible - when politicians perform this poorly, they need to be voted out of office.
