This is an example of the need for health care reform, as opposed to health care insurance reform. The health care industry, including hospitals, have a lot to do to clean up their act, both in how they charge for medical care and how they bill for it.

This is just one area ripe for reform and cost savings.

This group is responsible for electing many of the members of the GA who propagate corruption in North Carolina.....maybe it is best that we don't hear from them...besides dog tricks are much better than what politicians tricks do to us.

It would have nice if they had instituted drug and alcohol testing for members of the governor's staff, the BOE, DMV, etc,etc and the GA.

There are a lot of fat folks sitting in both halls of the GA...does any of this apply to them?

I haven't seen a state policy so schizophrenic since the Taliban said heroin is only for Christians.

Good for you SEANC. I would add my vote to making both Representatives Holliman and Gibson "priors"......
Neither has any intention of any kind of serious
reform to the state annexation law.
They don't care about the little old ladies that will lose their homes. They don't care about the children and families that do not have insurance now because times are so bad.
They don't care about the children wanting to go to college and
their parents not being able to afford it.
They don't care that the Chappell's family farm near Rocky Mount will have to be sold because they cannot pay for the main water and sewer lines that this annexation will allow the city to run around their property at a cost to the Chappells of $217,000.00. This the Chappells will be forced to pay, even though they don't need water and sewer.
They don't care that Mr. Chappell is fighting cancer also.
They only care about staying in good standing with The League and being informed by The League. before the session is even over, that they can continue with the annexations in their districts.
They only care about allowing cities like Charlotte to have bragging rights about being among the fastest growing cities in the nation.
Charlotte's own Chamber of Commerce said that Charlotte didn't really grow, they just annexed.

So let me get this straight - if my husband, who doesn't smoke, was a state employee, he would either have to make me quit or get rid of me if he wanted insurance? I'm glad we don't have the state insurance plan, but I can see this happening once the federal government starts offering its own insurance plan. It won't just be the smokers that are penalized folks, they will also make you pay more if you don't eat the way they think you should, or exercise regularly.

RTB I have been hearing this for a long time, at least since around 1995 or so. Where does Gibson reside? Where do his children go to school? Exactly where does his wife work? Just because someone maintains an address somewhere does not make them a resident. Why can't these questions be answered once and for all? If it is true that he lives in Raleigh, wife works in Raleigh, kids schooled in Raleigh then he is not living in Anson and why is he being protected? Who was the other guy that maintained a residence for district purposes but didn't actually live in that mobile home but lived in the really nice house somewhere else. Mitchell or something? Why is it different for Gibson? Maybe the N & O since they are really in the investigative journalism mode right now will sove this issue.
