Its not a surcharge, its a fee. Just like all of the banking fees. Now the state realizes it can make money off of it. I dont remember getting any extra when they took two months to get me my state income tax refund. Where was my surcharge? This is unbelievable.

As a lifelong Democrat I have to say, if these guys are worried about holding into their seats, wait until they tick off thousands of the most Web savvy North Carolinians with their nexus and click-through tax, putting us out of business. Just imagine what their search engine results will look like. Can you say "Google bombing?"

People are pretty Dumb enmasse But definitely will be turned off at a tax increase especially in view of this economy So absolutely it will affect elections and if they forget rest assured the opposing sides will remind them

The reason the bill is necessary in the first place is that so many officials do not act with integrity. If Easley's administration hasn't been a stellar example of that fact then what would it take to demonstrate that more rather then fewer tools are needed to combat entrenched corruption?

The AG's office sees its role as supporting a state agency preference regardless of the legality or integrity of its position. There's not a soul in state government with any experience near the top of the food chain who isn't well aware of that, and there's not a soul who wants his or her job to remain secure who is going to step forward and say so.

Entrenched corruption in state government is the natural result of any one party's holding power for an extended length of time. If the Democrats aren't going to follow Rep. Deborah Ross' lead in cleaning it up, they're handing the GOP some mighty good arguments for unseating them.

Hackney and Stam's "Much Ado About Nothing." This is simply prudish behavior on the part of the General Assembly. This incident does not rise to a decorum breach. Actually, this would be a good time to call in scholars in organizational behavior. Let us hope that these ongoing imbecilic decorum recriminations by our legislators do not actually escalate to total "McCarthyism!"

My concern is Rep. Alred was apparently driving under the influence of alcohol at 102 mph. Thank God nobody was killed. He should loose his licenses and never be allowed to drive again. Two Million dollars! Sounds just like a drunk. I've seen a lot of drunk millionares on Monday night that had to borrow money the next morning to get out of the mess they got in the night before.

As for the happenings on the Chamber Floor, those present can handle that situation.
