Hey the "legit' media will still help her and we know all about those millions of dollars being poured into the state against McCrory and Perdue. These liberal left wing(527's) would support corrupt democrats over honest Republicans any day.

That's interesting that Bev returned contributions from Green & Wright (my hunch is the contributions were a lot more than the $200 that she criticized Mayor McCrory for receiving from a contributor) even though they have not yet been accused of any wrongdoing.

I would imagine that Bev knows more than anyone about the payoffs and that she is trying to distance herself from them, including deleting email and keeping busy at the shredder.

But corrupt politicians can't cover all of their tracks in today's eWorld. Maybe the FBI ought to get involved because we sure can't trust anyone in NC to uncover her improprieties. I can't wait to learn what her role was!

I guess, ya poor thing, ya haven't picked up on the fact that no public officials have been implicated by the facts of this case.

Seems like the low folks on the totem poll get hammered hardest in these sorts of cases. When are the elected officials going to be held accountable?

Are we done yet?
Just saw the sentence, 40 months and fines. I still want to know about the company that bribed a state official? Will they be charged?

No fair sayin' it first!

Again, Swindell knows full well he's under scrutiny, but he has the guts to stand by his friend in time of trouble. Lots of politicians wouldn't, just because they want to avoid comments like yours. That's cowardly.

If you want to explain what is ethically or morally wrong with his letter in some specific way, I'm ready to be proven wrong. But don't assume facts for which you have no evidence.

If you've read my posts on this blog you know that I am a regular critic of politicians -- particularly the Democrats.

But this was a cheap shot. There was nothing wrong with what Swindell wrote. There's nothing smarmy, slimey, underhanded or unethical about it. There's no hint of any quid pro quo or suggestion of future positive or negative consequences.

Again, Swindell had nothing to gain, and had to know that he'd come under this kind of fire for the effort. In fact, he knew he was targeted by the GOP already and he knew that the N&O has been following the Hudson story and related angles very closely. He knew his letter was a public document. He still stuck his neck out.

It's an up-front testimony to his friendship and regard, and that's all it is. Swindell did the right thing for the right reasons.

Sure Swindell probably means it and he wants to remind the Judge of their friendship and that his assistants husband could really use a little help. It's done all the time.

I cry FOWL -- and foul - on this over-the-top shot at Swindell. Yeah, the letter is a little sugary, but I think Swindell means every word of it.

Sheesh, sometimes a person's heartfelt expressions ARE going to be corny.

I know, it's so uncool to suggest that a politician might mean something he's saying, but if you can't allow for the possibility of sincerity, you're discounting the verifiable fact that the man is human and that friendship means something to him, as presumably it does to the rest of us.

A. B. Swindell isn't my senator, but I admire that he is sticking his neck out for someone he knows well who is in hot water. He has absolutely ZERO to gain politically from doing this. Nor has he tried to excuse or justify what Hudson did. However, he is showing the backbone to say "this man is my friend and I know this about him," despite the inevitability of DOME comments such as these.

Good for Swindell.

Why do these people always get amnesia? "I may have been", well which is it? Were you a part of the team or not? Mr. Tolson do you remember IBP?

I may have been part of a team that was trying to get ethanol alternative energy plants in North Carolina,” said Tolson, who is now president and chief executive of the N.C. Biotechnology Center

"Mr. Brady thanked Governor Easley for the assistance that the state of North Carolina provided in making the plant possible."

Agri-Ethanol Products Announces $150 Million Ethanol Plant For Beaufort County, North Carolina
This will be the first ethanol plant in North Carolina and the first on the east coast.

Beaufort County, NC (PRWEB) December 16, 2005 -- Dave Brady, managing member of Agri-Ethanol Products, LLC (AEP) today announced the location of a $150 million ethanol plant to be located in Beaufort County, near Aurora, North Carolina. Mr. Brady thanked Governor Easley for the assistance that the state of North Carolina provided in making the plant possible. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to Secretary of Commerce, Jim Fain, Secretary of Revenue, Norris Tolson, Senator Marc Basnight, Representative Arthur Williams, Representative Joe Tolson, Larry Shirley and NC Department of Energy, the Northeast Partnership, Tom Thompson and the Beaufort County Economic Development Commission, the Town of Aurora and Roseview Capital.

The ethanol production will be delivered in each of two, 57 million gallon per year phases, with the co-products output doubling accordingly. Phase I ground breaking and construction start-up is expected during the first quarter of ’06. Approximately $2 million will be utilized through various grant sources from the State to facilitate rail improvements critical to the operation of the plant.

Mr. Brady stated that there will be 74 people involved in the ethanol and CO2 production at the site, with several hundred more jobs related to indirect employment such as delivery of grain, shipment of ethanol, the distribution of the DDGS and CO2.

AEP’s plant will consume in excess of 20 million bushels of grain per year for each phase and can use corn or grain sorghum interchangeably. An additional crop, hull-less barley, is expected to be integrated into the operation of the facility at some date in the future, as will bio-diesel production.

About Agri-Ethanol Products, LLC:
