I congratulate Dan Blue on his appointment. I am just wondering if this will take him away from his responsibilities here? I would think the panel would also take even more affected time like Clyburn and other full time politicians.

And please add to this list 1) reduced involvment with organizations that are under federal investigation and indictment. Like ACORN.

Disappointing, but not surprising, that Hagan's tied herself up to Evan Bayh's latest attempt to make himself relevant.

In my opinion, Kay Hagan is shaping up to be a disgrace to the office of U.S. Senator from North Carolina.

We are in the middle of economic recession and the companies seeking bailout money are attempting to right their proverbial ship. If the executives of these companies enable the companies to attain prosperity and growth, then they should be rewarded.

Think about this...if you were a top notch executive, why would you work for a company that has received bailout money, if congressional leaders, such as Kay Hagan, who at one point benefited from these "evil" executive compensation packages, are the one determining whether or not you earned your salary, bonuses and other payment options.

Congress is merely limiting the ability of these companies to recruit the best of the best in executives to help them grow as a company again. There are many other avenues to hold these companies accountable and the executives. Public opinion has been a strong factor thus far, but giving Congress the ability to govern in the board rooms of these private companies is scary. Especially since we need these companies to get their acts together in order to help the economy recover.

Again, a OUTSIDE Democratic Senator who is responsible for spending up to $8 million in ads attacking Dole will not allow Hagan to be independent AT ALL. They would keep reminding her you need to vote with us becuase we bougfht that race for you. We do not need that kind of influence peddling here, period.

Nice dodge on the real issue.

Of course Dole won't ask questions, because some of those contractors are probably paying into her campaign fund. Just follow the money, if you can get by your own bias (pot, meet kettle).

No tough questions? She doesn't even speak in her latest TV ad. She just stands silently behind the law enforcement officers looking kind of creepy. I'd love to see her take a general knowledge quiz about North Carolina. I bet she'd fail. Why does she want to be "our" senator? Sort of like Hillary Clinton minus the ambition but still using us. She has a very low profile. Invisible really. When do you ever see her on TV? When do we ever hear her speak? When is she ever here? What has she done?Never, never, never and nothing.

This the opening salvo from the News & Observer in their battle to assist the Democrat party in the 2008 elections. I want readers to take note that each time a Democrat charge is leveled against a Republican candidate, it is reported. Each time a Republican charge is leveled against a Democrat candidate, it is reported along with the Democrat rebuttal. I have watched this pattern for years by the N&O and they really think they are being fair and balanced.
