I always thought those UNC Chapel Hill students had a bit of a funk. I'm thinking the greasy hair is supposed to symbolize an academic type who doesn't have time to bathe. Think of the selfishness too. If you don't wash your hands you could cause someone else to get sick.

Considering mass hygiene charges labeled at rival institutions in recent years (Carter-Finley's infamous urination section!) I suppose UNC will accept "wash your hands more often" and smile.

My point has nothing to do with whether the corporate tax rate should or shouldn't be lowered. It is merely to point to a demonstrable fact: that the percentage of federal revenues paid by corporations has decreased as the rate has decreased. It is also true that previous decreases in corporate taxes have been followed by slight increases in revenues, but not an increase in the percentage of the share paid by corporations. All this is, for most middle class taxpayers, largely irrelevant, of course. What they have experienced in recent years is a lowering of their standard of living. The contrast between these two facts is fodder for the politicians.

Your argument is with others.

The difference between the maximum corporate tax rate and the effective corporate tax rate accounts for a decreased percentage of revenue from corporate taxes. That's the bottomest line. It explains why some corporations make billions and pay nothing in taxes.

When considering economic issues question all simple answers, believe no one named Dick, and rely more on reason and common sense than on skewed political mathematics.

I love how the US corporate income tax rate is 35%, and as high as 41% in some cases, yet those same businesses need to "pay more taxes" than they are. Unbelievable. Dick Morris was right about this, Obama's from the dirtiest cesspool of politics in the nation: Chicago.

It doesn't change the fact that she is still a co-signer of the mortgage. Which means she is legally responsible for the debt, which means the bank is foreclosing on her.

Not withstanding Boseman's legal hijinks, she hasn't paid her taxes or a mortgage payment that she is responsible for since last August.

What an example of leadership.

The only point that I was making was that technically Boseman was not forclosed upon, if the property was not in her name. If there's more to the story, then the N&O should give all the facts. Based on what was blogged, it is easy for me to believe that it is bad journalism.

Keep your insults to yourself (because they are rude and cause you not to represent yourself very well), but I do appreciate the insight that you offered.

And yes, I agree that everyone should be held to the same standard... including freedoms to marry.

And the NY Times owned most leftwing editorial page in North Carolina disagrees with you both and opines it is a " Personal problem, public issue ".

The old wolf cry of "You're beating up on her because she is a Lesbian" isn't going to work with a court transcript like the one linked above available.

She needs to be held to the same standard as every other legislator. A good place to start would be for her to pay her taxes.

It's too bad that you could not have read the forum discussion and transcripts of court documents that was on the Wilmington Star New until this morning when it was deleted. Unpaid taxes, default on loan, transferring other property, and the list goes on. The forum discussion was 7 pages long when deleted. You may think it's a cheapshot but look for further investigation on this one. Those folks on the forum are pretty hot and plan to get to the bottom of all this.
