Re: Humane Society applauds K-9 decision

Any officer or human being that mistreats a animal as this officer did should be punished to the max instead of getting off scot free and getting his job back as well. This officer is a real poor role model for others in how to train their dogs to obey and follow orders. I still have problems trying to understand why this officer was so mean to his dog and friend and protector.

Abuse of animals is wrong whether one is a trooper or a regular person.

Everyone knows this behavior is a sign of an unbalanced person and often a serial killer.

I find it offensive that North Carolina would support animal cruelty.
What's happened to the dog? Did they kill it?

Under the true definition of liberalism this trooper is the victim. He absolutely should get his job back unless the dog was a union member. Then both should be given full retirment benefits and retire to worker's paradise. Either way, no one has done anything wrong, ever.

Re: Judge: State should reinstate trooper

RescueMom,

I fully sympathize with your perspective about the trooper and his abuse of the dog. The point here, which is easily lost (forgive the pun), is that the judge is saying that this man is entitled to the full review and consideration that the law outlines. It can't be skipped by Governor Easley for his convenience. The question the judge dealt with was whether or not the law was followed, not whether this guy is a good egg or bad egg. The decision about whether the employee is good or bad was supposed to have been made in the course of the aforementioned procedural review, not by the governor's PR staff. It may sound like technicalities to you, but you'd want your own procedural due process, wouldn't you, if you were accused of wrongdoing?

As a fervent dog-lover, I can tell you that my reaction was the same as yours when I saw that video. But as someone who is also sick to death of politicians unlawfully interferring with the law they're sworn to uphold, I'm GLAD that Morrison came the the conclusion he did.

And I have the strong sense that this officer is going to be under a lot of scrutiny now.

My family was very upset at the video we saw this evening on our local news station and there is no way this man should be allowed to return to work. I don't care what his excuse was for his actions I only wish that someone would hang him up and kick him as he did that poor defenseless dog. This man should never be allowed to work with or to even own another animal in his life. I don't know what the judge is thinking but I think he should re-evaluate this situation.

I want to know why this loser hasn't been charged with assaulting an officer. those dogs are considered officers and if that dog had been beaten or even killed while working the offender would be charged with either assault or murder of an officer (both are felonies)and this loser should be treatesd the same way. i would love to see him thrown in the gen population of prison and see how well he does there after being beaten.
