McCrory has no negative ads? That's pretty funny! I suppose he can't "legally" get the Status Quo Bev ads. off the air. No, the real truth is that McCrory has no backbone. He is hiding behind RGA and pretending to be clean. Does he really think NC citizens are that stupid??
His ads are among the most negative ones in any other debate. Get a spine, McCrory or at least understand that we get it.

Bev: "....mumble.. mumble.. Vouchers! Vouchers! Look out he has VOUCHERS!"

McCrory: "something...something accessible leadership. For the future."

Munger: "Don't go chilipunking me."

And if I can borrow the "fact check" hat, yes, our criminal justice system is beyond broken in Char-Meck and getting funding for it simply has not been a priority for McCrory or ANY of the QC's leadership.

Otherwise we would not have whipped a car rental tax hike, a hotel-motel tax hike, $40m. for an Uptown UNCC building, $10m. for Johnson & Wales etc. etc. etc. out of Raleigh INSTEAD OF money for our courts and prosecutors -- and that is just in the past few years and just off the top of my head.

You’ll have to listen real hard to hear any of these comments:

Bev might say, “I was hesitant to come here to Charlotte……what with the crime being so bad and all.”

Munger might say, “I can spell coach K’s last name ………..and say it too.”

McCrory might say, “I intend to move the Queen City curse to Raleigh and cast it upon Basnight and Rand.”

Bev might say, “If elected I will buy some of those glasses like Sarah Palin wears….. even though I don’t need them.”

Munger might say, “I have all the right ideas but us Libertarians don’t like the voters because most of them are stupid.”

McCrory might say, “Munger and I both work for Duke.”

Bev might say, “If Pat loses because of the Queen City curse and I lose because of the Lieutenant Governor’s curse, then Munger will need to get a better hair cut.”

Munger might say, “If Bev and Pat presented their economic platforms in one of my classes, I would send them to Rand and Basnight to see if they approve.”

Munger might say, “What with all these banks closing up, can you still get a check cashed in Charlotte?”

Bev might say, “I can work better with President Obama because I’m a Democrat.”
Pat might say, “I can work better with President Obama because I know how to cross the aisle.”
Mike might say, “I can work better with President Obama because everybody is scared of us Libertarians.”

And then the moderator says, “I vote we throw our lot in with South Carolina.”

Perdue might say: "Before answering, I'd like to first poll the audience to see what they'd like me to say."

McCrory might say: "Before answering, I'd like to call George Bush to see what he'd like me to say."

Munger might say: "Yeah, I might represent a fringe political ideology, but shouldn't being twice as smart as these bozos count for something?"

NC voters might say: "Can we have a do-over on the primaries?"

Pat: Negative ads by Beverly - that are often unfounded or half-truths, particularly regarding Charlotte's crime rate (See below comments from Charlotte Observer and Greensboro News & Record):

Fighting crime isn't just a local responsibility
Democratic attack ads have tarred Pat McCrory for Charlotte's crime rate.

A Charlotte Observer editorial today provides some reality: The story of a man arrested last week for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl. He's been arrested more than 30 times in the past 10 years but never dealt with effectively.

Here's the point: Police make the arrests. That's a city function. Prosecution is up to the state -- and that's where the failure lies in this case, the Observer writes.

McCrory has been so frustrated that he and other municipal leaders have pushed the state for years to step it up. This year, Charlotte put $2 million of city money into the local court system -- a state responsibility -- to help see to it that criminals, once arrested by the police, aren't simply let go again to commit more crimes.

The Democrats are bashing the Republican mayor of Charlotte because he happens to be running for governor. But, because Democrats run state government, they would be more fair and truthful with the people of Charlotte and North Carolina if they acknowledged that fighting crime requires a bipartisan effort by state and local governments

BECAUSE THEY ARE COMPLICIT with the controlled AGENDA and CORRUPTION!!!

THEY defend the activities in many ways, and always have! Its why we are so thankful for some alternative media now available in our once great state...too bad so many NC voters dont have a clue and remain too ignorantly indoctrinated to find the truth.

Good for WSOC! Who says the staid Charlotte media can't strike a blow for justice and fairness in press and politics every now and then!

Professor Munger will bring along loads of good suggestions about streamlining state government when he visits Charlotte for the debate. And if he has some ideas on how to get the Carolina Panthers back on track in 2008, maybe he could drop those off in the WSOC Sports Department.

In fact, one of these days, they ought to let some sportswriters and sportscasters host a big political debate. This might bring a much-needed deree of politeness, civility and sense of fair play to the proceedings. Can you imagine how nice it would be if a couple of Raleigh's sports journalism dignitaries served as debate moderators:

[A.J. Carr, The News & Observer]: "Wonder if I could ask you this one question..."

[Tom Suiter, WRAL]: "Let's go to the videotape! Folks, this could be the Boast of the Day."

David McKnight

"Munger is a Duke University professor best known for his comical critiques of the other candidates and their positions."

I know I've been kind of picky of your wording lately Ryan, and I realize the "best known" is referring to the what the average voter might know. But this description is both unfair and inaccurate. He's more than just a professor at Duke, he's Chair of the Poli Sci Department and he's got a list of publishing credits that should impress even a seasoned journalist.

Why don't we help the average voters get to know a little more about this guy?

He got invited to a debate. I'm sure that still isn't good enough for the nuts supporting him, hell they probably want everyone else to raise money for him too since he can't do it on his own.

that should effectively turn the last debate of the cycle into a circus with Munger serving as ringmaster.

it is too bad he wasn't invited to all the debates, he could have articulated the libertarian postion and gotten positive attention.

this debate being his only real chance to garner publicity, he's going to have to throw political hail marys. So the debate should be entertaining but not particularly informative regarding Perdue and McCrory's positions and differences.
