I also saw Chelsea on Saturday. I thought her inflection was horrible. Her voice projected poorly, and she unintentionally sounded whiny and exhausted.

However, I was blown away by her substantive command of the issues and her command of the Q&A format(and I'm an Obama supporter). By choosing to forgo a prepared speech for almost an hour of straight Q&A, she pulled off the political equivalent of improv. It's like tightrope walking without a net- very, very difficult under the best of circumstances.

Chelsea Clinton works for a New York Hedge Fund called the Avenue Capital Group. This is a company which invests in the distressed debt market and which also happens to be run by folks who have been big financial supporters of her parents. (So much for getting her job on the merits.)

Investors in distressed securities typically make an assessment not only of the issuer’s ability to improve its operations but also whether the restructuring process increases the investors' wealth. This typically means things like stripping out pension assets and moving high wage jobs overseas.

Avenue Capital Group and firms like it profit from downturns in the economy and foreclosures and bankruptcies. There are more than a few voters in Pennsylvania, Indiana, North Carolina and beyond who have a right to hear how Chelsea Clinton rationalizes her chosen professional career with her pro-working man rhetoric.

I had the same perception of her at the Young Dem Convention...BORING! She may be a policy wonk but got to have a little "pow" on the stump. Chelsea is the snooze factor.

Orr et al.

The previous commenter is right. Neither Orr nor Smith can beat Perdue or Moore. But more important, Graham can't win the Republican nomination. His conservative credentials are highly suspect, and even the stalwarts of the Republican machine are uncomfortable with his recent conversion to the dark side.

Which give the NC-POG a real dilemma:

Orr: On the payroll of and beholden to Art Pope, who is possibly the most divisive man in North Carolina, to my knowledge.

Smith: Been slopping at the public highway construction trough for so long, he forgot how he made all his money. Have you heard he's a farmer?

Graham: Astro-turf trial lawyer with no experience doing anything except promoting himself.

I'm supporting Bill Graham for Governor. Lets face it - neither Bob nor Fred can beat Perdue or Moore. Bill can win because he's not a typical politician.

Bill is a breath of fresh air in a system that stinks of corruption.
