While neither of these gentleman was my first choice, I am very pleased with their nomination. I think it reflects well on the state of NC that we have so many excellent judges. I also think that it reflects well on the Obama administration that they chose competent, centrist judges rather than party hacks or ideologues. I can't imagine Richard Burr or anyone else objecting to these nominations, and, in fact, I bet that Burr has already given his tacit approval.

Both of these Judges are fine choices by the President!!! Hopefully they will be confirmed quickly.

What about Jerry Meek, the progressive NC Dem party chair who in four years rebuilt the party infrastructure through inclusiveness, made Obama's grassroots work possible, and steered state Democrats from a 6-7 U.S. House deficit to an 8-5 majority, picked up a U.S. Senate seat, and helped turn NC blue for president for the first time since '76, while simultaneously dominating state positions and the NC house and senate? Possibly up for a position on the political staff?

Because of your statement "Although most are Democrats, there is one Republican," this implies that Judge McCullough is a Democrat. He is not. All judges do, however, run without party affiliation on the ballot.

For the sake of clarity, "Jimmy" Ervin is on the ballot as Sam J. (as in Samuel James) Ervin, IV.
