Re: Robocall targets Hagan on drilling

Again, this is not about energy, or immigration, or whether Kay supports fluffy bunnies or not. It's about war, and Freedom's Watch's fear that Kay Hagan won't be a "kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" Senator like Dole is.

http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Story?id=3512978&page=1

"Former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer, one of the group's board of directors, said the group was formed to provide a counter-argument to the successful anti-war voices.

"There's been a three-year silence from conservatives and others who believe in peace through strength," Fleischer told ABC News. "The cavalry is coming, we're going to help to get that message out," he said."

They're using these other issues right now because the majority of folks (even here in N.C.) are tired of the Iraq war and want us to get out, and bringing up war stuff would kill Liddy Dole's chances. So it's red herring season, and these people are calling your home under false pretenses.

Thanks for linking to the EIA study. However, if any poll tells the story of how utterly poor the media's reporting on this issue has been, this is the poll. RTB, I hope you and your colleagues look at the results of the above poll and say to yourselves, "wow, we failed." I hope you and your colleagues will do better in the future.

Re: Poll:Uninformed Majority favor drilling

It is not surprising that an uninformed majority of people, hurt by repoblican economics, will grasp at unsound solutions to relieve their burden of high gas prices. This so called "poll" means nothing! If they were presented with the entire body of facts, in an atmosphere without fear, they would answer in a very different voice. "drill baby dill" is not a solution but a mindless chant created by the evildoers who would destroy our enviroment for their own profit.

The oil off the coast of NC is...

believed to be 39 miles off shore...so WHY drill 50 miles out...nearly one third of Louisiana's annual budget is paid for by leases from OIL Companies for off shore rigs...the bill passed this week does NOT allow states to receive ANY revenue from oil company leases...the house under Pelosi passed a TWO YEAR MORATORIUM on the use of Solar panels on Federal land until the "environmental impact" of sunlight can be studied...the current wind farms in the midwest are producing an extremely limited amount of electrical power because of protests keeping the high tension power lines necessary to deliver it from being built...thank goodness we have the Democrats looking out for us with their alternative energy proposals! Now that's what I call HONEST CHANGE!!!

Re: Claims Dept: Dole on Hagan's oil

Dole seems to have much greater investments in oil companies than Hagan, but that is not the reason Hagan was against offshore drilling. Offshore drilling is a pandering political move by Republicans to cajole support from voters who do not know the truth or who chose not to believe the truth because they always faithfully support the Republican party without question. "My party, right or wrong."

Oil company supporting Republicans have denigrated alternative energy technology since 1981 when Reagan refused to continue the growing support of Caerter's alternative energy initiatives. Republicans have caused the present oil crisis by refusing to support such alternative energy efforts. Republicans also failed to increase vehicle mileage standards and, in fact, provided tax breaks to companies that bought SUVs.

Pelosi's acceptance of offshore drilling beyond 50 miles from the coast is an effort to pass a bill that would advance use of alternative energy.

In addition to Hagan for senator, we have many good people in this state running for the House of Representatives. Please vote for the Democrat from your district. We need honest change in Washington.

They hardly qualify her for OPEC, but it absolutely negates the claim that Dole is the one in the pockets of big oil. First of all, Chip and Kay share a bank account; therefore, this influx on money, via returns of their investment, does present a conflict of interest about her views towards offshore drilling. Kay has continually presented half-truths as fact and even when corrected refuses to change her claims. Example, she is not responsible for balancing the North Carolina budget...the North Carolina Constitution is responsible. Although, she is responsible for the transfer $172 million annually from the Highway Trust Fund to assist in presenting a balanced budget for Governor Easley to sign. So now we are left with a state with decreasing road quality and a shortfall in the budget that the next administration will be forced to address.

Re: N.C. GOP targets Hagan in mailer

Tangoz - thank you for shedding a bit of common sense on the message board.

The mailer is accurate as Hagan does own these wells, yet attacks Elizabeth Dole for being in the pockets of oil companies. Well I guess that the saying of being in the pocket of big oil resonates a little closer in the Hagan household. One might say she is in bed with the oil companies (since her husband owns the wells too).

Does anyone see this as a conflict of interest for North Carolina? North Carolina has the potential to profit from offshore drilling, yet Kay Hagan will not consider it because it will decrease her profits. Although I guarantee you that she flips positions, much as Obama soon will on the issue.

There are numerous other things that Hagan is hiding the full truth about. The fact that she claims she balanced the budget as Chair of the Budget Committee. The NC Constitution requires a balanced budget. Yet what Kay has not told us is the fact that she and the Budget Committee had to take millions from the Highway Trust Fund in order to balance the budget. Schools have been progressively worse in North Carolina, our roads are in disrepair. Kay Hagan is a part of the corruption surrounding Jim Black and Easley's fiscal liberalism in Raleigh. That is not something North Carolina needs in DC.

You guys start calling people liars before you even know the facts. Hagan and her husband own numerous oil/gas drilling operations in the midwest. Those facts are TRUE. It would not be economically smart for Hagan to support offshore drilling because her profits go down as the price of oil goes down.

So Hagan will not support expanding our natural resource capacity because she would lose $$$$$$$$$$$.

bnartist,
It doesn't matter how often you point out their lies, they don't have any moral qualms lying through their teeth. Last night on Keith Olbermann they asked the question "Does lying not have any negative political effect anymore?" after they went through a laundry list of McCain talking points that were bald-faced lies.

The NC Republican Party is also amoral. They talk about family values, well that is one dinner table I would not want to sit at, one where lying is not only accepted but encouraged.

The path to hell is paved with Republican lies.

Your post indicates that you were not "pawned off" on the aide who answered your second question while her attention was drawn to another after Hagan had answered your first question.

Your post also confirms that the NC Republican Party is lying about Hagan's position on drilling as you were informed that Hagan supports the "Gang of 10" legislation.

You claimed to Hagan that you were "not satisfied with Elizabeth Dole's job performance in the last 6 years" yet you list Dole as a candidate you support.
