Maurice -

First of all, what offers validation to the premise that our country's government inherents the form of a democracy. In my years of studying the Constituion, our country is a republic more than anything. Your inclination to label Hillary as a Czar is on point as our government could be defined as socialist if she takes office and enacts the social legislation she is touting. Do a little math and you will understand that our country can not fund the sort of expenditures needed to enact her policies.

What needs to happen in this country and any true student of politics would understand this notion, is less government. Our founding fathers, John Adams, fought to strike a balance between state and local and the federal government as only the local and state government can truly cater to the needs of the citizenry. Hillary only wants to the continue the expansion of government that Bush has started.

Pursuit of life, liberty and happiness for me is little government so I can live my life to my notions of satisfaction.

My biggest problem with the Gas Tax Holiday is that Senator Clinton wants people to assume that the pennies saved each day will be put aside for something other than buying more gas.

If you spent $20 last week for "x" number of gallons, you will spend the same $20 this week for "x plus" number of gallons if it cost pennies less per gallon. In other words, you simply buy more gas with the same $20. You do not put away this week the potential pennies saved by buying the same number of gallons you bought last week, you just buy more gas this week for the same amount of money.

It does not take an economist........

Hillary Just Gets Us!

We elect representatives to represent us, that is, to do what is good for us. If our leaders sit idly by and watch, wait, and then do nothing about the detrimental economic impact of individual and corporate actions authorized by laws they themselves have enacted, they’re not doing their jobs, and they have breached their obligations to us under the Social Contract of Democracy. Hillary Clinton understands this.

It is time that the moral obligations inherent in the Social Contract of our Democracy be enforced by our federal government. Darwinian economic policy based on the notion of “survival of the fittest” breaches the commitment that our government owes to us. Hillary Clinton understands this. She wants to appoint a Poverty Czar.

American economic policies, at home and abroad, affect the welfare of many, many people and, as such, should be governed by moral principles, not scientific ones. Too often our economic policies benefit the few at the expense of the many and take the form of “untrammeled greed.” When our government leaders allow this to happen, whether it be through their own actions or their inactions, they have relegated us to subjects of the state and have stripped us of our rights as citizens to effectuate through government our “general will” for the common good. Hillary Clinton understands this. John McCain does not.

We have seen this all too often under Republican Party rule over the past several decades. The home mortgage crisis, lopsided “free trade” arrangements, and the health care crisis are just a few examples prevalent today. The health care crisis is perhaps the most egregious example of nihilistic Darwinian economics yet — where our own family and friends’ health, well-being, and even lives are at stake. Survival of the fittest and the extinction of the unfit has become a depressing and fatalistic reality of life for many Americans. Hillary Clinton understands this. Barack Obama who supports less than universal health care does not.

Hillary Clinton ‘08 — Because she cares enough about all of us to want to solve the crises facing us.

RTB says "(Maybe that's why Clinton's so worried about high gas prices...)"

Dude, I know that's meant to be a joke and all. But since you have shown zero understanding of this issue, it only serves to emphasize the extent to which you have failed to grasp the basics.

If Clinton was worried about high gas prices, then she would not be proposing a "gas tax holidy." Once again, an elimination of the gas tax will not lead to lower prices for consumers. Instead, gas companies will pocket the tax decrease.

So, I know the above was meant to be a joke, but the whole premise of the joke shows that you don't understand the issue. She's not worried about high gas prices.

If you are unable to understand the issue, please stop reporting on it!

More of the hope, change and unity supporters: "steal" "justifiable hatred". Obama has used both race and gender cleverly to divide us. Race to suggest any criticism of him is race-based, as if we couldn't just think our candidate was stronger. And gender, by participating in and benefitting from the nasty misogyny tha's truly poisoned this campaign.

I was very SHOCKED by one of the articles insisting so HEAVILY on the possibly racial motivations of white voters. The Obama camp is using this kind of substandard journalism to try to make the campaign about race and to manipulate black voters and white. Even Tom Hanks fell for it. It's really pathetic.
This campaign is gender-driven and it is the women, the African American women, in the state of North Carolina who are going to nail this campaign for the most qualified candidate who -- COINCIDENTALLY -- belongs to the same under-represented MAJORITY that they do.

Another take would be that she has to gamble in order to change the dynamics of the race. A narrow win in Indiana and a loss in North Carolina simply maintains the status quo. Senator Obama will still have won more pledged delegates, more votes, and more states. If anything, she will lose her argument that Senator Obama cannot win big states.

You ask if Hillary has been tarred for Bill's infidelities???

Well, as a matter of fact, yes, Hillary has been tarred for Bill's infidelities. She has been insulted by "comedians" everywhere for the fact that he screwed around -- with the cute jibes being to the effect that who wouldn't screw around on *her?* She has been insulted by people for not leaving him -- the same people who declare their own love of Christ's teachings compel them to support Dubya (self-professed Christian) and his war. The insults she gets for not leaving him are of two varieties: 1. she is a sucker, a doormat; and 2. she's a cynic who doesn't care and is in this marriage for political expediency.

Don't know where you've been Morphnmomma, but the answer to your question is yes, hell yes, Hillary has been plenty tarred for Bill's infidelities.

Clinton's surrogate Dyson married to Obama supporter Dys in N.C.

"...at Trinity were she first met her husband, Rev. Dr. Michael Dyson, who's been very vocal in his defense of Rev. Wright...."

Husband Michael Dyson, PhD. now at Georgetown, held a prestigious professorship at UNC-Chapel Hill several years ago and is a strong advocate for Barack Obama. His recent book on ML King and much of his career is devoted to defending people from the kind of public lynching the MSM gave Jeremiah Wright.
True, Wright has his flaws, and has said disturbing, divisive things.
But, haven't we all at times, when we are hurt or mad or disappointed? Does that justify how the media treated him and, guilt by association, tarring Obama for Wright missteps. Is anyone tarring Hillary for Bill's infidelities in the White House? Enough said.

It's interesting to me that Hillary Clinton would have a surrogate that was not only a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ but also still considers Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright her pastor. That surrogate would be Rev. Marcia Dyson. Rev. Marcia Dyson's seminary education, in part, was sponsored by Trinity UCC and encouraged by Rev. Wright. As a matter of fact, it was at Trinity were she first met her husband, Rev. Dr. Michael Dyson, who's been very vocal in his defense of Rev. Wright. Too bad Rev. Marcia Dyson does not share the same integrity. How did she feel when Hillary dissed the person--her pastor--and the church that nurtured her growth in the ministry? Did she go to her boss and defend Rev. Wright or perhaps denounce and reject Hillary for her part in politicizing the Rev. Wright issue? Hillary could have taken the high rode, considering that her rode surrogate is a product of Rev. Wrights teachings and sat there as Obama did for years--perhaps, not for the sermons in question, but she sat there nevertheless. Yet, Hillary spoke out against Rev. Wright and Trinity UCC, and to date Rev. Marcia Dyson has not publically said a word. Therefore, Rev. Marcia Dyson's silence on this matter is dishonest, hypocritical, and it shows a complete lack of intergrity. We already know that Hillary has those values. Rev. Marcia Dyson talks a good game about feminism and Black pride, but she does not walk it. "Sounding Brass and Tinkling Symbols." "Talking Loud and Sayin Nothing."
