Great comment

The lawn order crowd is indeed dumb about crime prevention, but given the state of North Carolina civic literacy, I don't hold much hope. Did you read this yet? Scary stuff.

Don't keep getting suckered by the ridiculous fear-mongering. "Tough on crime" is another way of saying "dumb about crime prevention." The inmates getting relief from (outrageously long) sentences are not going to be dangerous rapists and murderers, it will generally be the non-violent property or drug criminal who got caught in the vengeful (read: anti-Christian) desire to imprison everyone possible, for as long as possible. The US Department of Justice has data that shows our draconian sentences don't stop rising crime in some years, though, while the Federal Bureau of Prisons has proven (empirically) that drug treatment programs reduce re-offense after release. Dumb-about-crime-prevention policies are overstuffing our prisons, which help bankrupt the State and make guards as well as inmates less safe (remember, if H1N1 wildfires through a stuffed prison, those guards can bring it home, and then home to you and your family). Let's stop knee-jerking, and actually get Smart About Crime Prevention with less spent on prisons, and more spent on drug treatment and mandatory education/job training (on pain of imprisonment).

Just one more nail in the coffin of Democrats... They just raised taxes for every citizen in NC, and now they are going soft on crime by letting criminals out of jail early - beautiful - this should sell real well for Republicans during election time next year!

What on God's green earth is going on? We have people who have been out of work for months, people getting laid off and furloughed left and right,(front page of N&O) Chrysler is closing fourteen dealerships right now so those people are losing their jobs, and OUR LEGISLATURE IS VOTING ON SANITARY WIPES? Could we PLEASE cut the crap and get down to business?!? Could we say that we will cut all but absolutely necessary spending for our budget next year (and for advice on what is necessary go to the people who live paycheck to paycheck in this state - food, home, water all of these are necessary. Sinking big money into "pork" projects, buying up land we don't need, and throwing money to friends, yes that is a stab at Bev's friend who is trying to take over an elected position, are NOT necessary).

I am so frustrated with this state. I wish more politicians were honest, and more people would vote!

The democRATS in Raleigh are more lethal than any germ we could ever face on any grocery cart anywhere in the world! The same can be said for the repupliRATS up there as well.

Can we get hand wipes to to rid ourselves of their collective slime?

In front of the Governor's Mansion, Legislature, and the Attorney General's Office, to name a few places, so that the citizenry can disinfect themselves when we DEPART buildings housing elected officials.

100+ years of democrat opposition? Are you kidding?

I guess you hate social security, medicare, the UNC university system, and any and all environmental protections as well as public parks and open space.

Yeah, I feel really oppressed.

Same day voter registration/voting is just allowing a big problem to develop in the only bit of integrity left in the system. 100+ years of democrat oppression has RUINED our once great state.

Sounds like the (R) after Mr. Moore's name should stand for "ridiculous." Who in their right mind would rather pay thousands of dollars years from now to address chronic illnesses that could be preempted by a few dollars spent now?
