The budget could be balanced with the savings gleaned from grants obtained for cities through The League of Municipalities, which are often spent irresponsibly. Every year The League grows; and every year the "hand outs" to their membership grows. If Senator Rand means what he says [and it's a great idea], we will see substantial savings through cutting unnecessary funding for The League's and for Rand's pet projects, including the loop.

"We've thrown money away in the past," he said. "Now, we’re going to make sure we can justify every penny we spend."

You can count on ol' Tone to be "hiz own kind of honest," from time to time. It's good to see him admit it. If he'd only been this willing to admit having "thrown money away in the past" over the past decade, and tied grown in government to population and inflation, instead of exceeding that practical limit, we wouldn't be in this deep hole with him.

Maybe the $600 million on the Currituck Bridge could be set aside, Tone... You think?

First thing to be cut should be the $275 million for the Fayetteville loop.

Interestingly enough the Fayetteville loop was just approved, while projects in larger cities were put on hold.
