Registered voters as of January

Democratic= 2,511,446
Republican= 1,919,575
unaffiliated= 1,173,399

Which would lead any Democrat (or Republican, for that matter) to believe this state could go either way. And considering some of our history combined with these numbers:

black= 1,128,082
white= 4,279,493

for Barack Obama to pull 40-something percent (steadily) in polls is nothing short of astounding. He may not be able to swing this state, but his candidacy has forced many people to reexamine their preconceptions about race, and that's a good thing.

The Lie About "Democratic Control" of Congress these last 2 year

Right-wing posters continue to repeat the Rush/Rove/McCain/Palin talking point that there has been a so-called "do nothing" "Democratic" Congress these last two years, and that somehow the GOP failure to govern properly (e.g., war based on lies, exploding federal $407B deficit, ballooning $8.5T national debt, failing economy, etc.) is somehow the fault of Democrats. The Democrats have razor thin majorities in both houses of Congress. However, in the Senate, many actions require a supermajority of 60 votes in order to end debate. The Senate Republicans have fillibustered **90** (NINETY) times in these last two years, thereby blocking legislative initiatives and paralyzing Congress. The Democrats do not have enough votes to override Bush vetos. So, the GOP still controls the show by saying NO NO NO to any helpful changes. Thus, blame the GOP, not the Democrats, for this gridlock, and vote the incompetent liars out of office. Don't reward 8 years of GOP incompetence with another 4 years for the same party.

Many polls are showing McCain with a 15-20 point lead in North Carolina. Obama would be crazy to stay here. Besides, I don't want to see anymore of those boneheaded "HOPE" posters downtown anymore. Makes having to go to work even worse. If you don't have all the HOPE you need in Jesus, this election is the least of your problems.

I do think McCain is different but the same GOP lobbyist will be right in place to drive him just like they have with the Bush Adm. the last 8 years. No need to leave town or create new relationships. Stay at the same desk. At least with Obama in the WH, it will throw a roadblock in the road for the lobbyist and the money train that runs the special interest that controls at that level. Not sure how long the break will last with Obama but at least it causes a break in the continuity of money and influence flowing through the White House.

A McCain administration will be completely different from a Bush White House. It is complete bull to say that a McCain win will be Bush's 3rd. And, by the way, who has had complete control of the Congress for the past 2 years? Are things any better since Pelosi et al have been in charge? Any educated person knows that the president is basically a figurehead and that the main damage comes from the legislative branch.

yeah, had two NObama roaming vote getters knock on my door today, and they learned alot that THEY did not know...in fact, I believe they were terribly bewildered after I chatted with them...they had NO, I mean ZERO, answers for any of my NObama questions...pitiful

I'm excited to hear he's coming, whatever his mode of transportation. He will bring some real excitement to the OBAMA voter registration drives. Just hope I can meet him. My daughter, who lives in Charleston, SC, thinks "he rocks."

She has met him before in SC, but I have never met him.
