Whether Obama realizes it or not, he does come across as a racist and his ties to Wright for such a long period of time seem to confirm it. This is a man of mixed heritage - both black and white - yet he classifies himself solely as an African-American on the Today Show. This makes it appear that he is somehow ashamed of his mother's heritage. You will note that there are never any members of his mother's side of the family pointed out supporting him at rallies or town hall meetings or helping him with campaigning. If he is the so-called uniter of all races, then why is his support not equally mixed with both sides of his upbringing? I ask you to consider if he is playing a race card of his own by not showing both sides of his heritage more openly and honestly at all points in his campaign? Something to think about when you go to the polls or make your feelings known to your state super delegates who will ultimately decide this election.

Partly it's timing. The media focussed on Obama's minister because it's easy and dramatic TV that sells advertising, but felt no urge to investigate Hillary's own spiritual albatross. That's harder journalism, but not much harder.

Hillary attends Foundry United Methodist Church in DC. Its minister, Dean Snyder, has praised Reverend Wright publicly, quite differently than Hillary's response. That in itself has caused a stir.

Since 1993, Hillary has also belonged to a religious group led by Doug Coe called The Foundation, and informally referred to as The Family. The group is best known for its National Prayer Breakfast, and mostly Republican members like Jack Kemp. It's been around since at least the 1950s and often controversial for its secretiveness. According to Barbara Ehrenreich's article in The Nation:

The Family avoids the word Christian but worship Jesus, though not the Jesus who promised the earth to the "meek." They believe that, in mass societies, it's only the elites who matter, the political leaders who can build God's "dominion" on earth. Insofar as the Family has a consistent philosophy, it's all about power -- cultivating it, building it, and networking it together into ever-stronger units, or "cells." "We work with power where we can," Doug Coe has said, and "build new power where we can't."

According to an article in Harpers a few years ago:

Coe listed other men who had changed the world through the strength of the covenants they had forged with their "brothers": "Look at Hitler," he said. "Lenin, Ho Chi Minh, Bin Laden." The Family, of course, possessed a weapon those leaders lacked: the “total Jesus” of a brotherhood in Christ.

"That's what you get with a covenant,” said Coe. “Jesus plus nothing"

Jeff Sharlet's book, "The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power" will be published in May.

McCain recently switched to the Baptist faith to please his wife, but refuses to get Baptized. He's still in negotiations over that.

I don't think any of this is important; not Clinton's secretive insider church, or McCain's religious flip flopping, or Wright's loony sound bites. But the conversation has only focussed on Obama's problem and given the others a free ride-- at least until the general election.

Because Obama refuses to sink to the level of attacking Hillary's friends and pastors, he takes the hit. She's behind and thinks anything is fair game, and of course it will work. Voters aren't smart enough to see through crude tactics. Karl Rove and the Swift Boaters taught us that.

That's why Obama's poll numbers are sliding a bit. The public thinks he's the only candidate who isn't a spiritual Boy Scout. Or Girl Scout. They may learn the truth a little too late for the North Carolina vote on Tuesday.

Re: Obama losing ground in N.C. -- Messy Divorce

I think people are finally getting a glimpse of the real Barack. His late and feeble handling of the Wright issue utterly looks like exactly what wright said: Obama making political decisions after working out the spin with axelrod. Its painfully obvious: Wright keeps saying the same things -- for 20 years, on the tapes Obama took to Harvard to study him, in the clips last month and this weekend. Obama just now, when it's hurting him big time while he's already tanking, decides to divorce him. Oh, sure, that's a principled stand on the issue.

Re: Obama losing ground in N.C.

I am the effete, latte-sipping elitist that Hillary Clinton has programmed you to hate and fear. I live in Los Angeles. Everything she says about me is probably true. Even more horrifying, I’m gay!!! So it’s only fair that I should have a chance to say something. Your future and the future of this country will really depend on how well you heed my words.

First of all, although I'm a white guy, I'm not really afraid of Rev. Wright. I just retired after spending a life time teaching in an inner city school in Los Angeles. Granted I resent some of Rev. Wright's comments, but then again, if I walked a quarter of a mile in his shoes, I might feel the same way. I've had plenty of experience with folks like Rev. Wright, and trust me, after spending a life time teaching in a 'hood nicknamed The Killing Fields, Rev. Wright was one of the least of my worries.

Secondly, I am really not to put off by Obama's comments either. You may not know some of the criticisms Obama levels at the African-American community, or even the African American church. He constantly stresses the importance of self-reliance, hard work, education, and responsibility. When he criticizes his own community, even if he uses harsh words, he gets a standing ovation. So if he at times seems too harsh for your sensibilities, please understand where Obama is coming from.

With those two issues aside, let's talk about some ways our divergent life styles converge.

1. The current issue of the day is the high cost of fuel. Living in Los Angeles, I rely on public transportation for the most part. Even though LA's transit system isn't the best, my using it helps conserve gasoline. The less gasoline I use, the lower the price you'll have to pay. Currently only 7% of the people in LA use public transit. Supposing we could get 78% of the people in LA to garage their cars, supposing we could build public transport systems in other urban areas and persuade the effete elitist liberals living there to use public transportation. (They would if they had decent systems.) Wouldn't that bring you cheaper gasoline? In addition, if you fly over Los Angeles, you'll see a sea of roofs. What would happen to the cost of gasoline if we covered those roofs with solar energy collectors? Can you see how my lifestyle might help yours?

2. With the soaring price of gasoline, Iraq has taken a back burner. Yet while I am writing this, young Americans are still fighting and dying. Yesterday I went to see a documentary called Body of War which portrayed the day to day life of a severely paralyzed Iraqi war veteran. Of course the veteran in the movie was a hetero from a sort of conservative home in a conservative neighborhood in the Midwest, but are those differences that important. As I watched, I really had to struggle to keep from bursting into tears. Hillary Clinton could have stood up against the war. She could have said no. She didn't because her political career was more important, than 4,000+ lives being lost. As a liberal on the left coast, I always opposed the war even when it wasn't popular. So did Obama. Everything I said about the war back in the day has come true - in some cases it’s much worse than anything that I could have imagined. You can say that Obama should have walked out of Rev. Wright's church. Fine. But one died because of Obama's decision. Hillary voted for the war in Iraq, thousands of people have died because of Hillary's error in judgment. Incidentally, invading Iraq after 9/11 made as much sense as invading Brazil after Pearl Harbor. Yet this is a military decision Hillary endorsed. Does this sound like a competent commander-in-chief?

3. In spite of my so-called elitist reputation, I support unions. Reagan got history all wrong. He didn’t cause the fall of Communism. Working class unions did. (Check the history again.) I belong to UTLA and subscribe to USW at Work. I love what USW is doing. Maybe I prefer opera to bowling, but in the end, are my musical tastes really that important?

4. I believe in health care for everyone - with an emphasis on preventative health care. I've read horror stories about health problems in small town America as well as horrible work-place accidents. I'm bitter, angry and frustrated when I get this news. Is that un-American?

5. I believe in saving the environment. Albeit I will never go hunting, but the less deer I bag, the more deer for you to hunt. Is there anything wrong with that? Furthermore I know that we won't have any deer at all if we keep pimp slapping mother earth. That's what we're doing right now. In addition I hear all sorts of stories about tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes. In LA, of course, we're worried about drought. These are all by-products of global warming,

6. I'm tired of all the brouhaha over trivial pursuits. Look at the recent cover of Newsweek: arugula vs. beer. What's sort of crap is that? Yeah, I have rather exotic eating habits, but then I've got to be careful about my weight. I suspect Obama is facing the same problem. But the more careful I am about my weight and health, the less health care I need and to more health care for you and your family. Similarly the less meat, beer, pizza, bacon and eggs I eat - the more for you. Furthermore, if I spend more money and buy organic food, I'm helping support a family farm somewhere in America. Is there anything wrong with that? Why is Hillary fixating on non-issues?

7. Finally I'm sick and tired of Hillary painting me as unAmerican. Urban America has its problems as Obama himself will be the first to admit. But in LA, no one has a "funny" name, no one has a "funny" skin color, no one a "funny" background and no one has a "funny" sexual orientation because in LA, we are all “funny” in one way or the other, so we have to try to get along. That strikes me as being much more American in spirit than place were only the straight, white, and right have any claim to count themselves as human beings. And, right or wrong, that's the message I'm getting from Hillary. - and she calls Obama "hurtful and divisive."

Finally I need to break the truth. I don't care what pollsters say, Hillary is sure fire loser - for one reason only. She is engaging in fear and smear campaign. That's the only reason she's gaining ground. And her current success proves that fear and smear works. She may be riding high now, but trust me. After she wins the nomination, the GOP and the GOP media will use the same smear and fear tactics against her - and there will be nothing, absolutely nothing, she or any one else can do about it.

In addition, the same smear and fear tactics that Hillary is using against Obama will be the same smear and fear tactics that McCain Elaine Chou and the anti-union GOP will use against you. Hillary doesn't realize what she's doing. The only person she seems to care about is herself. What sort of candidate is that?

There's only one way to save the Democratic party, or this country, for that matter - Vote for Obama. A vote for Obama is a vote against the fear and smear tactics of Karl Rove, McCain, Eaine Chao and the GOP.
The choice is yours. I'd advise you to think of everything Hillary promised you. If she wins the Democratic nomination, kiss it all goodby.
yours truly,
William Joseph Miller

Barack Obama does not want to debate because he does not want to answer any difficult questions. The MSM has not vetted Obama. When a person does some research on Obama, he learns that Obama has more baggage than a cargo ship.

Obama knows the skeletons in his closet that have not been revealed by the MSM. Because the MSM would not vet their golden boy Obama, there are web sites that are exposing why Obama is unelectable.

Visit the web site that Barack Obama does not want voters to read. Learn why Obama is unelectable at:
http://www.AudacityofHypocrisy.com/

Obama does not want another debate. He does not want to answer any difficult questions.

Barack Obama - 20 Years of an Anti-White Ideology - Why?

Why did Barack Obama choose a spiritual adviser/mentor who taught the Anti-White Ideology of Black Liberation Theology ?

Why did Obama listen to the Anti-White Ideology for 20 years and give significant amounts of money to support the preaching of the Anti-White Ideology?

Why did Obama expose his daughters to the Anti-White Ideology of Black Liberation Theology?

Why didn't Obama denounce Rev. Jeremiah Wright's authorization of the publication of the 'Hamas Terror Manifesto' in the 7/22/2007 Bulletin of the Trinity United Church of Christ?

Why didn't Obama denounce Rev. Wright's gift of a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' to the Anti-White, Anti-Catholic, and Anti-Semitic Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan?

Jeff Jacoby wrote "Should people of faith empathize with Obama?" in the 3/20/2008 edition of the 'Jewish World Review.' The article is at:
http://www.jewishworldreview.com/jeff/jacoby032008.php3?printer_...

Excerpts from the article follow:

"The problem for Obama is that Wright, the spiritual leader he has so long embraced, is a devotee not of King - who in that same speech warned against "drinking fro the cup of bitterness and hatred" - but of the poisonous hatemonger Louis Farrakhan, whom the church's magazine honored with a lifetime achievement award. The problem for Obama, who campaigns on a message of racial reconciliation, is that the "mentor" whose church he joined and has generously supported with tens of thousands of dollars in donations is a disciple not of King but of James Cone, the expounder of a "black liberation" theology that teaches its adherents to "accept only the love of G-d which participates in the destruction of the white enemy."

"Above all, the problem for Obama is that for two decades his spiritual home has been a church in which the minister damns America to the enthusiastic approval of the congregation, and not until it threatened to scuttle his political ambitions did Obama finally find the mettle to condemn the minister's odium."

Barack Obama repeatedly says that Rev. Wright's lifetime of ministry has been impugned by his detractors. Let's give credit where credit is due. Rev. Wright was instrumental in establishing numerous ministries that help people with a variety of needs. Rev. Wright and his congregation should be commended for those ministries.

However, nearly all churches have ministries that help people with a variety of needs. The fact that Rev. Wright has helped to establish ministries which help people does not excuse his indoctrination of the Anti-White Ideology of Black Liberation Theology to his congregation. Some people refer to Black Liberation Theology as a type of 'Victimization' Theology. How does it affect a person who has listened to it for 20 years? How does it affect children?

How many times can a person hear about the 'White Oppressors' before he begins believing that, as Rev. Wright describes America, the "US of KKK-A" owes him - big time?

Linda Chavez wrote "Afrocentrism Is the Problem" in the 3/19/2008 edition of the 'National Review Online.' Check the archives at: http://www.nationalreview.com/archives/?q=MjAwODAzMTc

Excerpts from her article follows:

"...Afrocentrism is no more a reflection of authentic African culture than white supremacy is of American culture. Nor is Afrocentrism merely about black pride - though Afrocentric "scholars" do frequently claim that Moses, Jesus, Cicero, Cleopatra, and a host of other luminaries were black."

"At its heart, Afrocentrism is based on a profoundly anti-white and paranoid ideology. First, it asserts that the entire foundation of Western Civilization was stolen by the Greeks from Egypt, which, Afrocentrics claim, was ruled by ancient blacks. Second, it claims that whites are deeply inferior..."

Re: Kay Hagan Should Debate Jim Neal

Kay Hagan and Jim Neal should both debate with all of the candidates. There are more candidates running -- not just Hagan and Neal. Neal's narcissm seems to dictate that he believes he is only person running against Hagan. The real question is why Hagan and Neal AVOID any real debates with Dr. Howard Staley, Marcus Williams and Duskin Lassiter? I don't believe that this state needs either Hagan or Neal's snooty approaches. If they are going to snoot the other candidates for U.S. Senate -- hard working citizens of North Carolina, then they will snoot the rest of its citizens if elected. But then, we don't really need to worry about either Hagan or Neal getting elected. Neither is intellectually strong enough to go up against Elizabeth Dole. Their understanding of the meat of the issues is and has through their campaigns been presented like a sort of whitewash. The citizens of this state should make it their business to read up on the other candidates; otherwise, this entire state is going to lose. We don't need someone who is going to rail insults at Elizabeth Dole by telling her to go back to Kansas. Dole is from Salisbury, N.C. We don't need someone such as Neal who spends his time between questions writing his name over and over again as if he is in love with himself. We need good representation -- not the candidate with the most campaign funds. Those funds do not represent the bulk of North Carolinians because most North Carolinians can't afford to donate too much more than their churches if that. This is not a race about voting on the lesser of two evils. This is a race that is giving North Carolinians three additional choices that are much better than those the newspaper editorials are serving up and shoving down your throats. Spit out Hagan and Neal, and look at the real issues and the strengths of the other candidates. Dr. Howard Staley has practiced podiatric medicine in this state for nearly 27 years.

He educational background and knowledge of our Federal government would be a major plus for this state in the capacity of U.S. Senator. Duskin Lassiter is a truck driver who owns his own company.
Re: Kay Hagan Should Debate Jim Neal

In a recent Democratic gathering in Martin County, State Sen. Kay Hagan said she wants to go to Washington, D.C. because she views Washington, D.C. as a dysfunctional place and wants to clean it up. When Dr. Howard Staley stood he responded to Hagan by saying that “…Washington, D.C. is not dysfunctional -- but Washington is trying to manage a dysfunctional society.”

What I believe voters should be doing is looking at the overall picture of this senatorial race. The goal of the race is to beat U.S. Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole. Which candidate can you picture going up against Sen. Dole? Which candidate has the education, and quick wit to go up against Dole?

The narcissm and arrogance of Jim Neal is not going to cut anything – not even butter. He is not electable. Hagan is not savvy enough -- nor is she educationally prepared enough to win against Dole. Can you picture her in a debate with the style she has of a sixth grader running for class president up against Sen. Dole? Hagan says she wants Dole to take her ruby slippers and go back to Kansas. Well, Mrs. Hagan, U.S. Sen. Dole is not from Kansas! She is from Salisbury, N.C.

When push comes to shove, Hagan fails to adequately answer questions put to her. If she says, I want to give North Carolinians a voice in Washington one more time, I think I will puke. This is the goal when any U.S. Senator is elected. They become the voice for everyone of those in the state they represent! What she touts is never anything of profound resolution. Hagan does not strike me as having enough fortitude to prevail the strong winds of the impending political storm blowing and pounding about the borders of the Republican and Democratic parties.

Duskin Lassiter -- no matter how much encyclopedia knowledge he brings to the table -- has not advanced enough yet to apply what he has memorized between his redundant uses of “ladies and gentlemen.” The only two candidates, who seem to be worth the trouble of wading through the over-spending of advertising hoopla of Neal and Hagan propaganda, are Dr. Howard Staley and Marcus Williams.

When I look at these two men -- I am inclined to choose Staley first -- but maybe Marcus can run for the next U.S. Senate seat in two years? Right now, North Carolina voters need to use their best judgment and vote on a candidate who is intellectually strong enough to go up against Dole.

I am sure the Republican Party is sitting back and enjoying the divisions that have erupted like an ongoing downpour through the Democratic Party. If you really want to get issues resolved with the least amount of money wasted – choose a candidate who stands apart from excessive political advertising. Excessive advertising dictates to voters how to vote.

Voters need to think on their own. Ideally, they should not allow themselves to be dictated to by candidates who shove their ways into their mailboxes and dinnertime between the evening news and advertisement telephone calls. Such advertising is frivolous and unbalanced. I would like to think that most voters can wade through the garbage and see the shining coin underneath it all.

Voters must care enough to do their homework. Read the newspapers – not their opinions – but the unbiased news reports. If you can’t trust your local newspapers to deliver equal, balanced and unbiased reporting – read the AP New wires. They seem to make it their business to strive for unbiased reporting.

Visit all of the candidates’ sites. Call the candidates on the telephone if you need to. Dr. Staley has numbers up for voters to get in touch with him. He invites their questions. Don’t be shy. He’s not ever going to put his nose up to any citizen in this state. He does not side step any issue – nor is he likely to avoid or dance around single-issue groups’ questions. Every group makes up in totality the majority – but all require someone who is not in this race for the glory, or prestige, or for narcissm, or because someone put them up to it.

Dr. Staley is – but a human being willing to step away from his career and make the needs of this state and this country the focus of honest-effective and operational resolutions. When you vote, vote your conscience; otherwise, the voting process is degraded. If you are going to be a lazy voter – those candidates with the bulk of political advertising are depending on it. They don’t want you to think for yourself – only to remember their names so that you will respond like a robot absorbed in the powers of suggestion and fill in the spot next to their name.

Above all, remember not to lie to yourself about the qualifications of these senatorial candidates. Remember what William Shakespeare wrote in his play Hamlet, “to thine own self be true.”

Kay Hagan Should Debate Jim Neal

If Gov Easley and Gov Hunt truly believe in presidential debates are good for NC, then why don't they urge Kay Hagan to debate Jim Neal on TV for US Senate??? Jim Neal is completely willing to debate Kay Hagan on TV, but she refuses because she is scared of being outshined by Jim Neal (who has a very Obama-esque speaking style). Without a debate, it looks like Kay Hagan is simply trying to buy the primary with special interest money (she does sit on the NC budget committee and has control of a LOT of state money).

This refusal does not pass the smell test. North Carolina citizens should demand a TV debate between Jim Neal and Kay Hagan.

And her excuse of "I do not feel comfortable in participating in a debate without the other 3 [minor] candidates" on April 11th, and then participating in a non-televised debate without the other 3 candidates 2 days later is hypocrisy. She is just offering weak excuses not to debate Jim Neal, because he is an amazing speaker with progressive ideas.

Again, North Carolina should demand a TV debate between Jim Neal and Kay Hagan,
