You can say a lot of things about Senator Richard Burr but to call him a crook is not one of them. Why is it when Democrats can't argue facts they call names?

I agree with the above, Roy Cooper has so much baggage and is very close to being a crook - we need to find some new blood. I do not know much about Mr. Lewis but would be willing to hear him out. I am a lifelong DEM and always want new blood and new ideas to the party - keep Roy Cooper out!

This is great news, in that he will rally the black vote to smear Cooper and call him a racist in the primary, just as Obama did to Clinton. This can help Burr considerably.

Roy Cooper is as much a crook as Burr so we don't need him in Washington.

I don't think Easley has interest in running for VP, but I bet he wouldn't object to a cabinent appointment.

It's worth noting, I think, that Easley's popularity among Democratic activists hasn't been strong for a while. Remember, his nominee for the chair of the Party was soundly defeated by the executive committee.

Re: Pearce: Obama voters lack 'scar tissue'

"If Obama is denied the nomination, he says his younger supporters will feel betrayed and won't have the "scar tissue" to deal with it."

Maybe Obama supporters will feel betrayed because the only way that Clinton can win the nomination is if superdelegates overturn the results of the votes for regular delegates. Clinton can win every remaining state and seat both Michigan and Florida, and she still will have fewer delegates than Obama. If she somehow ends up the nominee, of course Obama supporters will feel betrayed! It will mean that the party elites decided their opinions count more than the voters!

And don't get me wrong, I don't mean that as an insult. But you guys sure have been flooding the blogs lately with such desperate sounding posts that I feel kind of sorry for you.

I wonder if by "level-headed and informed" you mean the super-delegates, and by "mob-rule," you mean, perchance, the voters.

Tut tut tut . . .

The Democratic Party should never give in to bullies and threats. There are some that have no regard for Democrats that support the "other" candidate... and they can be insulting and disrespectful. Fine, but they should not be encouraged to believe that "Jerry Springer" tactics and temper-tantrums are going to gain them anything. In the end it will be level-headed and informed Democrats that will have to decide this contest, not "mob rule". No one in this race is entitled to the nomination, and we should all hope that the strongest candidate is the nominee. Running the country, and being the leader of the Free World, is a hugely important privilege and burden. It is not American Idol, or Star Search. It cannot be about "likeability", looks and charm....because the Presidency is a job, a very important job that requires an essential array of personal characteristics and qualities. Not all of these qualities create a warm fuzzy reaction in people, steely toughness and unfailing self-belief rarely do, but they are important tools for a potential President to have in these troubled times.

He's right on target. I'm sorry that Hillary and Barack ran at the same time, but there it is and here we are. I'm sorry that Hillary's supporters are going to be disappointed. I'm sorry that they're half out of their minds with worry and that they're posting rants to vent the stress.

The JJ dinner was a huge thrill. The roar of the crowd for Obama was full of energy -- not just volume. And it wasn't just the young supporters who made all that noise -- I saw old time political folk cheering and standing and even rushing up to the stage to try to shake his hand or get a picture.

Hillary Clinton gave a great speech and deserves our applause and respect. But I think Barack Obama is going to be our nominee, and I look forward to the party unifying behind him.
