No big deal here.

I'm sure many lawyers contributed to Easley's campaign early on. And so now the money is simply coming out the other end to pay some other lawyers to clear up some "minor issues." Seems to be almost a type of "poetic justice."

It's like a North Carolina "Cash for Clunkers" program.

To say that people, who in good faith, voted for Easley are "suckers" because of his legal troubles is illogical. What about the people who, in good faith, voted for Nixon? Should they have been able to predict Watergate? We all vote with high hopes, but it is not the public's fault when the politicians let them down later. But you make a good point about the limits of how a public official can spend his unspent campaign funds.

The longer the investigations drag on the more likely the Easley bunch will be found guilty of criminal acts. Then Mary can use some of her ill gotten salary to fund their appeals.

This is the height of "irony"; I'm neither a democrat nor republican, but the democrat idiots who blindly vote these slimy democrats in year after year so that they become entrenched like a chronic disease, how do you feel now? Not only have you (and all the taxpayers) been sc-rewed royally by the likes of Easley, NOW you get to PAY FOR HIS SHADY LAWYERS with your DONATIONS! You can't make this crap up!

He's a scumbag (spit) lawyer, his pig wife is a scumbag (spit) lawyer, he works in a scumbag (spit) law firm, and yet he has to go out and spend $222,000 hiring a scumbag (spit)lawyer? You can bet your life a big part of that money was kicked back to him under the table. Saying it was for a scumbag (spit) lawyer was just a way to scam the campaign fund for it. WHAT A CERTIFIED LOW-LIFE CROOK!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it makes sense. People dumb enough to contribute to his election are the same dimwits contributing to the oddball's defense now. It's right in line with their objectives, so it all fits. It's personification of the adage: "There's a sucker born every minute."
