Re: House votes for builder tax break

Whoa, Nellie.

The gov has been flying around the state on the "Raise Your Tax Tour." We have all got to step up to the plate and "Stand Up for Education." And the legislature is talking about giving a break to the homebuilders? Do the homebuilders have lobbyists? LOL

Do the working families of North Carolina have a lobbyist? Do they have a voice?

Maybe the gov should stay in town and try to get everybody on the same page. We need to be raising taxes and collecting taxes.......not giving some a break or delayed payment date.

Let's stand together to raise taxes accross the board. Let's fight to collect taxes when they are due. "Standing together" and "fighting together" sure are some good slogans.

Remember the Maine! A chicken in every pot!

What is REALLY needed is a law that requires any new home, commercial project or rehab (permitted jobs) built in NC must be certified as built with ZERO ILLEGAL LABOR, in order to pass C.O. and financing when bought!
Builders who refuse would pay a hefty tariff for employing ILLEGALS!

That legislation would bring JOBS back to OUR construction industry in NC!

Hey McCrory if you act like GW Bush, think like GW Bush, and speak like GW Bush, then it only stands to reason that you would be four more years of GW Bush.
PS Why wouldn't you be photographed with him when he came to raise money for you??? All of the above except you don't want to be associated with
GW Bush...too late, partner!

Now vouchers are going to cost a nice round number of $1 billion, 11% more than the voodoo number of $900 million that she is already exagerating. Where did this new number come from? That's right you think the economy is doing fine and probably more families will have the money to send their kids to private schools, particularly in Charlotte where 20,000 Wachovia employees are exposed. As Linda Daves said, you just don't get it!

Status Quo OK in Char/NOT in state

Great! Status Quo is OK in Charlotte as she believes that the Mayor is a leader and has been doing a good job, including:
- vetoing a 9% property tax increase (that was overturned by the democrats)
- Adding 400 more police officers

The question is: Would voters say that Easley/Perdue have done a "good job" for North Carolina over the past 8 years? Is "status quo" Beverly what we need for State Government over the next 4 years? Even Beverly is trying to distance herself from Easley (saying he has not done a good job) and the rest of the power elite with what "they" have done over the past 8 years. We need change in Raleigh, which the Mayor can help bring including:
- More prosecutors (as Charlotte's current police keep re-arresting the same people)
- ETHICS
- Someone who will listen
- JOBS

Thanks for saying that Pat has done a good job! Too bad I can't say the same for you!

Thanks Bill Graham for your voice of reducing gas taxes in NC, the highest in the SE!

So, if McCain's proposal for a FEDERAL Gas TAX moratoriam, then, thus the NC TAX would be suspended as well, right? BECAUSE, thats what democrackkks tell us everytime we ask them about this "our gas tax is TIED to the FEDERAL TAX!!!" SOooo, what about it, democrackkks?

Re: Claims Dept: Moore on pension fund

If I remember correctly, Moore was way ahead of his peers in the legislature in publicly pushing for an increase in the minimum wage when it was not a politically popular move and in front of the business lobby to boot.

Also, the ad said "raise the minimum wage again." It didn't even mention Moore's involvement in the wage increase, just his support of an additional increase at the end of a list of other initiatives he supports but does not claim to have involvement in.

Sure, college is not for everyone, but I think the Treasurer was referring to folks who choose not to attend college because of the costs associated with higher education.

"I shudder to think that any high school student in North Carolina does not take the next step to continue their education," he said.

That is an unfortunate condition, but why must the prescription to end a politician's tremors always be the placing of a greater tax burden on his neighbors?

Especially, in this case, when there are serious objections to overselling higher education, based on manifold unintended consequences.

Re: Moore on seniors' taxes

It's nice that the Treasurer wants to give a tax break for seniors that will cost the local governments, which will in turn cause everybody - including seniors - to pay more property taxes. Remember, there is no state property tax, so the Treasurer is basically touting a tax cut that won't cost the state any revenue but will make all the cities and counties lose revenues and cut services or raise taxes to make up for the lost revenues.
