It's a win for the W.C. Fields school of philosophy over home-state lobbyists across the land:

"I'd rather be in Philadelphia."

Where is Cornbread on this waste of taxpayers timea and money. Or is cornbread a hyprocit? He attacks a very well known national issue on term limits, yet doesn't point out the waste of time here. Oh that it is right, corn bread is a kool aid drinking liberal.

The idea is to not define people by their minority status. You say "person of color" or "people with disabilities" to recognise that, first and foremost, these are people like the rest of us.

When you think of "a blonde" you probably get a different mental picture than when you think of "a person with blonde hair."

While treating folks with respect is something that conservatives seem to have a problem with, the power of language is well understood by Republican activists. Why else do they persist in the "Democrat party" schtick, or insist upon labeling immigrants as "illegals?"

What is really demeaning is that state time and money will be spent on semantics rather than providing services to the people. If a bill like this is passed it will be with the best of intentions. However, it will have a cost as forms, letterheads, signs and more will need to be changed to reflect the correct language.

If you want to show people with disabilities respect treat them like taxpayers who have worth and need support rather than as a catchphrase.

That's really bad news. Was hoping we'd really see some transparency and change in the way our government does business, as Gov. Perdue promised.

Why would the outgoing governor have anything to do with the new governor's inauguration? No big deal, just seems curious to me.

Money (Appropriations Chair) can buy much with these "Leadership" Groups of African-americans. It is sad...

I tell ya, being on the appropriations committee can work wonders.

What confuses me is that Dalton is against affirmative action, against women's rights, and against the environment.

I hope the African American community sees through his mask.

Re: College dropout?

This is a very bad idea. Our Founding Fathers created the Electoral College knowing how simple it is to "gin up" an uninformed electorate. Since little has changed in this regard in 225 years, our country must retain the Electoral College, otherwise we'll see the mob rule that people such as John Adams rightly feared. Instead of this shameless attempt to circumvent our Constitution - the best in the world - I would advocate tougher qualifications for voters. For instance, only US citizens who pay income taxes may vote. And all must pass the same exam given to those seeking US citizenship, in English of course. Is it asking to much of our electorate to be literate, contribute to the funding of our government, and understand how it works as requirements to cast a vote?
