I love Papertown! AMAZING selection and you don't always have to purchase in big quantities. If you do, why not split the goods and cost with a friend/coworker/neighbor?

If you want to drive to Durham, try Not Just Paper at 1010 W. Main Street. They sell school supplies, paper, party supplies, etc. Their huge warehouse is connected to the store, and they often have clearance items. Check out their website at http://www.brameco.com/notjustpaper.htm

This is a good paper/label company (obviously wouldn't offer all of the same merchandise, but some) without having to order wayyyy more than needed:

For basic paper supplies such as plain napkins, tablecloths, etc, Sam's is a good place to get such things. Of course, they don't have anything fancy nor do they have cake boxes, etc.

Re: Speaking of wine...

Wine Merchant always provides a good case discount. On Tuesdays - they do a 20% off deal. I have never had a bad wine from the Wine Merchant and the clerks are very knowledgeable. They will help you find a wine you want to drink as opposed to pushing what is on sale or what they have too much of.

(I'm not saying I had that experience at Total Wine 2 times ... I'm just making an observation.)

I'm stocking up on wine while I can still afford it. I tend to be drinking a bit more with this unpredictable economy.

I believe Whole Foods is doing a 20% case discount now through the 12th... I only glanced at a sign in the store the other day, so it may be going on later than the 12th. Otherwise, Total Wine has a 10% case discount and sometimes has specials for 10% off mixed cases or 10% off mixed 1/2 cases.

I've never seen that locally, but here is a site that keeps a catalog of places that offer it. Only one listed in NC.

I'm sure the experience varies widely here....so, um, YMMV....but for the last year or so, my wife (to be) has cut my hair. She was nervous the first few times, but with a guard on the clippers, it is hard to make any huge mistakes. Now she does it pretty quickly and with confidence. It saves me about $20/month, and honestly, she does much better (and much more consistent) than going to a chain shop. When we have kids, it will save even more.
Plus...there is no waiting in line, they are open late, and my hair stylist can flirt with me as much as she wants!

Maybe in about 30 years, you'll see me in a new BMW with a bumper sticker that says "Paid for with haircut money!"
