The governor's speech really got me thinking about something: does she sound dumber than she looks, or does she look dumber than she sounds?

Re: Fisher again in the spotlight

I agree wholeheartedely with Dr. Fisher. As a mature adult, I was appalled at the new Chairman's attempt to encourage minorities with 'Bling-Bling, You da man, Hip-Hop, etc." retoric and nonsense. Clearly, I understand the need to encourage younger members to join the party, but this is nonsense and does not encourage, in my view, the professionalism and interest required for the Republican party.
The chairman's behavior as of late is disappointing. I am very surprised by his tactical approach to lure new members.

unsourced gossip

This is unsourced gossip.

The politco article references anonymous "Pelosi allies" and then presents us with a Letterman style top ten list, complete with "dishonorable mentions."

I've got two tickets to Pelosi/Shuler Thunderdome if any Republicans are buying.

What an enviable position for a smart democrat! Pelosi is at the top of other lists of Congress critters also - the ones we'd most like to see
NOT in service!

Proven? Europe?

A group of Professors at UCLA have proven that the Great Depression was extended by seven years by merely creating the temporary jobs...through construction and roads.

Isn't that sort of like Creationist scientists who have proven that the earth is only 6000 years old?

And then there's this:

Even Europe has dismissed the Obama plan of attack...even the Europeans...who loved Obama.

Really? EUROPE has dismissed the plan?

I'm not arguing one way or the other on Obama's plan. I'm not an expert and I have no way of sifting through the competing claims on both sides. But I do know this. Scientists at UCLA have "proven" nothing about the Great Depression. And Europe? Well, the last time I was there, I couldn't see that they agree on anything.

That brush you're painting with is kinda wide, don't you think?

I believe someone requested a generalized complaint about the Stimulus package. First of all, it is not a stimulus package - the word stimulus was recently inserted after a study group found that word to be more enticing for the general populous. This is package is nothing more than a wish list that the Democrats could not get into law with Bush holding the veto pen.

The problem with this package is that it does not create long-term sustainable jobs. It might, perhaps, create temporary work, but at the end of the small construction project, those people will be laid and back to square one. We need to create jobs that can and will be long-term. How do you do that? The shovel-ready projects are not the answer...

A group of Professors at UCLA have proven that the Great Depression was extended by seven years by merely creating the temporary jobs...through construction and roads.

Thus the GOP gains ground with its notion of tax cuts for small business, which is proven to be the backbone of the American economy. We are worried about the economy...this will solve the economy...

As far as Rush concerned, perhaps truly read his stimulus package idea and see what happens...it would be more successful than Obama's current plan. Even Europe has dismissed the Obama plan of attack...even the Europeans...who loved Obama.

I have a question for the liberals...why is health care involved in an economic stimulus package?

The republicans dont 'embrace' Rush...he is his own man, conservative first.

Hopefully Sen. Burr's constituents MIGHT be smart enough to realize that any garbage sponsored by Mooooveon/Soros is nothing BUT trash!

WHY are you WHINERS not calling for the 'porkulus' money to come straight to YOU instead of all these programs? huh? dont you have needs for it before anyone else?

When Lucille Ball left television, Americans thought they would never laugh again. We thought the same when Jackiee Gleason, Babe Ruth, Sinatra, Davis, Martin and John Cash stopped performing. America laughed again and loudly. America can live without Rush Limbaugh.

Giddy with himself, Rush Limbaugh stated simple congressional politics when he pushed hard on the Republican party to refuse the new Democratic President's stimulus legislation. Every DC moron knew the Republican members of Congress would vote NO the first softball stimulus bill thrown by the President. They were saving face for the voters at home. They did not swing at the President's first pitch but they want some of that ball.

Nothing here to watch people. Rush stated the obvious but acted as though it was his idea. Rush took credit where there is NO credit due. It is trickery, could be considered a lie. Rush is a Republican insider who profits from the mess he makes of America. It is time to take Rush Limbaugh off the radio.

Don't do it for me!!!! Do it because Rush Limbaugh has become a rusty old crutch which creaks loudly when the Republican Party leans on it. The shorter, weaker versions being hannity, Savage and his little brother Levin or not the solution either. Listen to the American people and serve our nation as if we were one. Help US, please.

It's amazing that the liberal idiots are so afraid of Rush and his conservitive agenda!Pelosi, Barney (Q-ball) Frank and company have loaded up this stimulus bill with so much pork, even members of the Democrat party are getting cold feet. Ain't it sweet? When are they going to realize that you can't borrow your way out of this mess they have gotten this country in. Congress is spending money we don't have and are setting up debts that our children and grandchildren will be paying!Have a nice day!

I never thought a radio talk show host could bring the President of the United States to his knees.

Knees? That's funny. Limbaugh does nothing but raise money for Democrats.

All bi-partisan Obama said was grow up Republicans and don't listen to the man that wants the American President to fail?

Isn't that what Bush said to America every time Osama Bin Laden went on the air saying the EXACT same thing?

The pretty simple fact here is that the Republicans are not willing or able to criticize any of the substantial amounts of spending in this bill. They're focus on a few tiny parts of it. And too few people are pointing out that these amount to maybe one or two percent of the program total.

The point here is not that the GOP is making much ado about virtually nothing--surely we're all used to that by now--but that the media is granting thundering headlines and valuable media real estate to such claims without bothering to do the simple arithmetic.

Look, many things are debatable and complex about the economic meltdown, both in defining its multiple causes and analyzing proposed solutions. But doing the math on the specific items the Republicans are objecting to on all the Sunday teevee shows is not. And this is exactly the kind of information that needs to be out there as the president tries to explain his program to the American people: All those "high-principled" no votes cast last week were about 1%-2% of the recovery plan.

Spread the word. Because it's looking more and more like the traditional media won't.

I never thought a radio talk show host could bring the President of the United States to his knees. Maybe Rush is right, he is the most feared man in America. If this is not true, why is Obama targeting Rush Limbaugh? Rush Limbaugh has one vote during a public election. How scary!
