Its been reported that there have been jury awards of upwards of $1M for such suits.

That's no grade school case. Someone needs to tell Rep. Deborah Ross. Apparently she must feel her her escapades on Craigslist might come back to bite her!

LOL

Re: Bill would regulate 'glass roses'

Mark Hilton is a genuis.

By moving the crack pipes behind the counter where the convenience store owner keeps the after-market pre-packaged individual bags of brillo pads and lighters, no crack addict will ever succumb to that dastardly impulse to buy a glass rose. I mean now they'll have to ask for a crack pipe, instead of just pointing to one and saying "and one of these, along with the secret bag of brillo pads and lighters you've been selling me since Nancy Reagan just said no."

Wait, here's an idea. What if Mark Hilton just wrote legislation to BAN CRACK PIPE SALES in convenience stores, rather than just regulate their sale?

No, too much work. Plus the whole free market thing. He is a Republican after all, and glass rose crack pipe manufacturing is still a job in a Republican economy.

Faison needs to give himself a little more credit.
He probably got a lot of votes from 20 year olds this past election. Tell us what you really think about teenagers and young twenty somethings. If you could not figure out what unprotetcted sex could do then blame your parents not your school.

Re: House bills of note

After Jim Black pushed through the "Ethics Law", NC got a sense of how a law's title may sound good, but actually isn't. (a good name for the actual law would have been "Keeping misdeeds secret".)

So these titles are hard to work with. The term-limit sounds like a term-limit, but with experience in NC state government operations, one can hardly assume that the title means anything.

Education Lottery anyone?

Re: Bill would extend conscience clause

Religious exemption or "conscience clause is an awful idea and dangerous. What happens if a Scientologist becomes a pharmacist, many of them don't believe in psychiatric medications. How about someone who feels that premarital sex is a sin and refuses to fill prescriptions for not only birth control but medications for STD's or HIV? Also if you define something as interfering with implantation then IUD's are also out of the question.

Bad Idea!

Outside chance

I guess that depends on what you mean by outside.

The "religious exemption" is a dangerous path, leading directly to withholding of medication and treatment in favor of waiting for god to intervene.

Typo in the opening sentence.

Sorry guy but over $100 million a year of that spending was stolen from the Highway TRUST Fund. This state not only has overspent, it has FAILED to plan for a economic downturn that can happen at any moment in time.

Are you a concerned_citizen from New York? You can't be from NC if you don't know we have had a spending problem for TOO many years! Keep up the good work Mark!

NC spending isn't the problem, because NC only spends what it projects it will take in. The problem is the revenues fell of quickly. And the reason for THAT was the years and years of lax or non-existent oversight and regulation of Wall Street and all the other thieves. Now they expect poor and middle class to pay for the mistakes of the wealthy business execs. I say tax the heck out of luxury items, to include speedboats, beachfront property and vacation homes, expensive jewelry and anything with the word "designer" in front of it. And stop letting "public" utilities rip off the public.
