I testified with AG Cooper in DC about the impact of robo calls.

It is too bad that politicians continue to exempt themselves from Do Not Call law.

StopPoliticalCalls.org is fighting for the privacy of the American voter.

1 - Creating a Political Do Not Call Registry
2 - Testifying in the US Senate about robo calls (Sen. Feinstein’s Robocall Privacy Act)
3 - Forcing states to enforce existing robo call laws (CA, MN, NJ, etc..)
4 - Getting politicians to take a do not robo call pledge (7 have)

As I testified at the US. Senate these robo calls are an epidemic and this election cycle “phone spam” and are invading the privacy of All American Voters.

Our members are taking a stand and saying enough is enough at the National Political Do Not Contact Registry at StopPoliticalCalls.org.

Here is a quote from a member recently:

Re: Robocall targets Hagan on drilling

Again, this is not about energy, or immigration, or whether Kay supports fluffy bunnies or not. It's about war, and Freedom's Watch's fear that Kay Hagan won't be a "kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" Senator like Dole is.

http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Story?id=3512978&page=1

"Former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer, one of the group's board of directors, said the group was formed to provide a counter-argument to the successful anti-war voices.

"There's been a three-year silence from conservatives and others who believe in peace through strength," Fleischer told ABC News. "The cavalry is coming, we're going to help to get that message out," he said."

They're using these other issues right now because the majority of folks (even here in N.C.) are tired of the Iraq war and want us to get out, and bringing up war stuff would kill Liddy Dole's chances. So it's red herring season, and these people are calling your home under false pretenses.

All unions? That's a pretty sweeping statement. You must have some special knowledge of unions that you keep under your tinfoil stash.

By the way how's the fundraising going? You certified to the State Board of Elections that you "intend to neither receive nor expend more than $3,000 during the current election cycle" yet you actively solicit contributions of up to $4,000.

All unions are in favor of NOT having secret ballot elections to determine if workers want a union at their workplace.

This is not only Anti-American, it is a form of intimidation and exhortion. I am a high tech maintenance worker who understands what it takes to make a living. I get paid by the hour and live the middle class dream. I am for unions getting a fair shot with SECRET BALLOTS to determine unionization or not. I will never get union or quasi-union endorsements because I support the hard working Americans not the Union and their Democratic bosses.

My opponent is out there campaigning for Obama instead of seeking out the needs of district 33's voters.

Re: Elections board hunting robocaller

...after the cesspool of sleaze, criminality and corruption we've endured under Bush and the Neocons, Hillary & Co may think they're morally superior...when by a higher standard, they wouldn't be so far above. In other words, the Bushies have lowered the bar and brutalized the populace so much that anything seems better than Bush & Rove tactics.

I'm not sure I see much difference between push-polling and these negative lying attack ads. They are both misleading and intended to persuade the vulnerable. I think the best antidote is to educate people to be suspicious of any polling that appears to promote one candidate over the other & if it feels creepy, hang up.

The thing that's morally indefensible about Clinton's people is that they will use and profit from the sleazy strategies of others. They may not have initiated it, but they'll take advantage of it.

Re: Easley robocalls for Clinton

I wondered if one of the campaigns would make a mistake and get caught as AG Steve Carter fully prosecutes robo calling cases to the fullest extent of the law.

I would not mess with AG Carter.

Now it looks as if someone hasn't received accurate legal advice and will pay for it.

What is not clear, however, is if this is a robo call that went into Indiana (the audio is very poor and there does not seem to be a date and time stamp on the call).

National Right to Life goes after Obama in an Indiana robocall "asking you to vote against Barack Obama."

Clinton and Obama are more or less indistinguishable on abortion rights, both in their support for access to abortion, and in the way they talk about the issue.

The call attacks him for promising to sign federal legislation that would make it harder for states to impede abortion, and for voting against a (complicated) bill in the state legislature that would have more heavily regulated late-term abortions to the end of saving, the call says, "the lives of babies who survied late term abortions."

Former Indiana Rep. Tim Roemer, a pro-life Obama backer, said the group is playing politics.

"National Right to Life is running these calls because they know that Senator Clinton will be the easier Democrat to run against in the general election—and this is their way of giving her a helping hand in this tough primary battle," he said in the emailed statement.
