Hey YDNC! Listen kids, it aint your grandaddy's party no more...You've been schooled (screwled) to believe that democrats are good for America.
Democrats think the government OWES everybody equal $$$ so noone FEELS
Please help us learn and TEACH the OTHERS, the LOST, wrought up souls who BLINDLY SUPPORT the evil enemy within. STRIVE to be SMARTER than a democrat...and have a blessed day.

you bother to report what John Hood says about anything. Is he your obstructionist-to-progress in residence? You already have one of those (Martinez) on contract. Surely you can find sources other than the Puppetshow to predictably object to anything decent.

This is a terrible idea. It limits political free speech that is crucial to our system of government. It will make elections even more expensive because it will almost cut-out an inexpensive and effective way of advertising a candidates message to the voters and it also pushes the candidate to use more expensive avenues of advertising such as traditional snail mail, TV, radio, and email.

If this passes, will it extend to political polling, some of which is done by robo type polling of "push 1 to agree, push 2 to disagree"?

How will this be regulated and who will regulate it....and to what expense? Who will enforce this? What will the penalties be, a financial fine (more money for the state)?

How is a small race such as a county commission race or an NC House race on a shoestring budget, limited technical ability, and manpower supposed to take people off its voter call list who is on the Do Not Call List? Larger races such as for Congress, Metropolitan Mayor (Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro etc.)governor etc. can afford the technological know-how and manpower to do this...maybe.

So let me get this straight, in the days of caller ID, answering machines, and more and more people using cell phones instead of land lines; a few folks who are inconvenienced by a 30 second robo call a few times a year promts the need for more bureaucracy and governmental regulation (part taxpayer expense - part candidate expense) to end a perceived annoyance from a candidate who only wants his/her message to register in a voters mind for consideration on election day?

What's next a "National Do Not Email List", a "National Do Not TV commercial me because I'm so tired of seeing the same "Toyota-thon" ad list"?

At a time when we all would like more election participation, this seems to encourage just the opposite.

Re: Moore takes veiled shots at Perdue

weiled shots - now, now....I think we do need to take care of the citizens of NC first without raising taxes...again...

Perdue wants to issue insurance coverage to cover all children. I guess that means, dare I say it, children of illegal migrants. How about me, Bev? My state retirement is poverty level. I can't go back to work because I'm too old. I avoid going to doctors because the state plan is full of holes. Paying the deductible alone is more than we paid doctors before we even had insurance coverage. Maybe they think we'll die sooner if we wait until we're dying to get care, then it's too late. Children of migrants aren't ever going to take care of me. So what does Perdue have in mind? Taxing citizens some more to take care of non-citizens and n'er do wells who think their job in life is just having kids.

With five fine UNC journalism students joining The N&O's Dome roster, that Duke political science prof running for governor as a Libertarian, Michael Munger, is about to learn first-hand about newspaper "home cooking recipes" for political pot luck dishes.

Lesson One for Professor Munger is remember to refer to each Duke-Carolina basketball game not as "the Carolina game" but rather "the Duke game."

Re: Aikens to run for auditor

Awesome that Col. Aikens has served in the US Army, NC National Guard, in Iraq, and now wants to continue serving the people in this way.

However, what's his financial qualifications? I ask because this race is for State AUDITOR, not Most Popular North Carolinian. Does he have a CPA license? ... A CFP license? ... Any direct accounting or auditing experience in his background? I still can't believe that we never had a State Auditor with a CPA license until Les Merritt became our State Auditor.

Finally, Col. Aikens mentioned the need to clean up the mess of recent scandals in NC State Government. However, what he fails to point out is that they haven't involved State Auditor Merritt, and primarily involved his fellow Democrats (e.g., Black, Decker, McAllister, Wright, Phipps, Garrett, Tatum, Miller, Geddings, G. Ballance, and F. Ballance). Maybe having a State Auditor with a financial background is partially responsible for some of the recent scandals coming to light (e.g., DOT, Dept. of Agriculture, Wake Co. School Transportation, and DMV Commissioner)?
