But the black dude that carries the funny shaped district that runs up I-85 is hi-lar-i-ous. Shouldn't you newspaper types be crucifying Larry Kissell for voting with real people. I get what sells print media.

Ya'll rawk.

Deregulations led to the abilities of the greedy to get us in this mess in the first place. New modernized regulations need to be put into place NOW, before there is more damage. Transferral of money to places like Dubai also needs to stop. Reganomics seemed logical, but the greed factor wasn't accounted for. Wall street spent billions in Washington to make trillions. That's TRILLIONS with a capital T. Banks need to be limited in size to reduce liability also. They were not too big to fail after all.

Great, just what our economy needs. More regulations, more hoops to jump through, and more Congressional busywork. If the current agencies were worth their salt this wouldn't be needed in the first place. The last place I would look for responsible policies is this Congress.

More power to them if they ARE sending their money off shore. If only I had the means to avoid the taxes I pay. I don't want my money going to pay for other people's mortgages!

what about oversight of the so-called 'secrecy juristictions' where a lot of the corporate greedheads have spirited their money to to avoid taxes? More info at the web site: Offshore Watch and also at the Tax Justice Network.

Centralize lending oversight? What about centralizing Congressional spending oversight? Miller just voted to authorize Obama to spend more money than any person in history. Miller has voted to saddle my children and my grandchildren with massive debt. Miller voted to authorize Obama and Pelosi's largest spending bill ever. Miller's yes vote quadrupled the national deficit.

Where's Miller's concern for his constituents (like me) whose investments have lost half their value? Where's his concern that the cap and trade bill will cost 4 million American jobs and cost $700 per American family?

But, thanks N&O for printing Miller's press release.

thanks radioman, I had the same impression of our AG flaunting their great record. He seems to be missing the point with his self-analysis of great performance - given the current situation and all.

At least he's cutting down on the TV commercials. That's also something that seems contrary to doing the job (even though the script says different).

They appointed Kay Hagan to the Armed Services committee, yet she has not developed an opinion on Iraq. Check her campaign website...nothing of substance...

How does Hagan feel about the surge...what does she think should happen next?

I would ask her or her office, but when I called up there last week, none of them knew what they were talking about and their excuse was..."well I am new and not sure of everything yet...blah blah...no I am not from North Carolina."

The young girl on the other end sounded like she were from up North, perhaps Chuck Schumer recommended her to Hagan....

I'm glad we now have an absolute expert on "military affairs" and "Health, Education, Labor and Pensions", I mean, she ummm. did marry a guy that was in the service. Clearly, ummmm, making her smarter than everyone else in the country.

Oh no...she had lobbyist stop by her office...I am sure President-elect Obama would not approve of this since he believes lobbyist are evil.

Plus didn't Hagan run a campaign opposing Dole's ties to lobbyist...man she stuck to her guns for all of a day...

As long as Chuck Schumer says lobbyist are ok...then Hagan does not care what happens.
