I knew that RTB but I was only looking at the header, More notables on Order list. Didn't realize you were just listing Mikeys. I thought someone asked the other day if there was a complete list somewhere. Sorry for my mistake.

Here we go again!!!! more corruption without interuption. Taxpayers get your pocket books out and shut your mouth. Raleigh politics, you get what you ask for sometimes and the voters spoke loud and clear on nov 4th. They had a chance for change in raleigh, but where so narrow minded the thought they couldn't vote anything except a straight democrat ticket. So, now she isn't even sworn in yet, but the same old corrupt people start to ooze to the top. No suprise here, thats what happens when andy griffth elects your governor. The voters don't check out the canidates. They vote democrat because andy said to, or obama said to, or their grandfather did, maybe they voted for bev because they hate george bush. WOW North Carolina voters really made a point this election cycle. But, the bottom line is we the people of north carolina will a pay the price for this point. Not just the folks that voted for these crooks, but everone in the state.

The News & Observer and The Charlotte Observer, leaders in the drive to inhibit citizen communications with state government, are acting more as political entities than journalistic institutions.

Now, when a citizen encounters a problem area in education or environmental protection, transportation or law enforcement, he or she will have to think twice about contacting appropriate offices and departments of state government in a discreet or confidential manner. Why? because The News & Observer and the Charlotte Observer are suing the Governor's Office demanding immediate access to all emails communicated between citixens and state government and also among the employees and departments of state government itself, beginning with the Governor's Office.

Will citizens risk gaining the animosity or retaliatory opposition of powerful interest groups and organizations because their concerns about consumer safety or well-being have been publicly disclosed by the press before state government has had a proper opportunity to fulfill its service to the people of the state in one problem area or the other?

The constitutionality of the public records law which is being cited in this ill-advised lawsuit by overzealous media organizations should be challenged because constitutional rights of expression in the U.S. and N.C. constitutions should not be seized upon as a justification for interfering with, abridging or pre-empting the legal and constitutional duties and responsibilities of the Governor as the constitutionally designated head of the executive branch of state government to see to it that the laws are faithfully executed.

To uphold the law requires that responsible offices and departments be able to exchange, review and properly edit information of all sorts in order to ascertain the facts as best they can be determined and take appropriate action. The News & Observer and the Charlotte Observer have confused information and dialogue with the constitutional exercise of the functions of the executive branch of state government.

ElectriCities is suffering from serious lack of accountability as well. Where is the leadership in this state that steps us and corrects what is wrong in the interest of the taxpayers?

But "honorable and truthful" are not highly valued by Franklin Freeman and Mike Easley. What is wanted from state employees by the Easley administration is that each employee understands that his or her standing is directly related to how well he or she serves Easley, not the state, not the citizens. Forget public service; it's about service to Easley. I think he lost perspective about what it is to be a public servant long before he got to the governor's office. To him, "public service" seems to mean using public servants to cater to his interests. He doesn't seem to get the distinction between actions or statements that boost Easley's image as opposed to actions or statements that are meant to support state law. Crane did get the distinction -- and of course that meant she had to go.

I know the governor's latest story may seem confusing, but the truth isn't hard to figure out if you examine the situation logically.

Mike Easley did not fire Crane.

Franklin Freeman, his chief of state, did not fire Crane.

Dempsey Benton, his secretary of HHS, did not fire Crane.

So, actually, Debbie Crane was never fired. She and many others are under the mistaken impression that she is no longer an employee of HHS. As a matter of fact, she is. And Debbie should report to work tomorrow morning.

Though, after such a long and unauthorized absence, she might well get fired.
