While this is liable to annoy the 12% of North Carolinians without religious affiliation, it seems to me that the very few "radical atheists" in this state would get annoyed at anything religion-related, no matter how innocuous it was.

Don't elected officials maintain the right to freely exercise their religious values and activities?

Over here in WNC Democrat Heath Shuler also may have ties to C-Street -- his office wouldn't conform or deny the rumor he was a C-Streeter, citing "security" reasons.

Ensign, Sanford, Pickering Gingrich etc - so much for the Party for family values.

Re: Not even John Edwards

As hard as it is to say it -- I once had high hopes for John Edwards -- Edwards wins the Sanford matchup in a photo finish. Both of them kanoodled their wives, both spent time and money denying it. One actually begged his wife for permission to continue kanoodling, and for her to visit the kanoodlee face-to-face. Both of them had/have jobs that are absolutely without authority or power. Ah, but only one did his Texas sidestep while his wife is dying, then offered a married staff member with three kids to publicly take paternity of a child, and paid him to do so.

Nah. John Edwards win this one. On the other hand, Sanford still has time.

Where's Waldo, I mean Beverly? New Contest

Chrissy is rather flippant about her response, but this secret trip raises two concerns for me:
- Given all of the problems the state is in, why was she even taking a vacation less than 30 days after she was inagurated?
- If transparency is so important to her, why doesn't she just come out and tell us instead of us speculating or wondering if she has a problem. Was there a medical procedure that she required, a cosmetic concern, or did she go some place that she is embarrassed to admit to her democratic supporters?

NEW CONTEST: Guess where she went and the winner gets to go with Perdue the next time she flies her jet to the western governor's mansion in Asheville. There is certainly plenty of room in both the jet and her summer mansion.

That was my first thought when reading the SC governor story, that dumpling left right after taking office and no one seemed to know where she went. Did she transfer power???

Quit shipping jobs out of the country!

At least most of the politicians who have been caught have been caught consorting with women from the United States.

The governor of South Carolina is taking this NAFTA business too far. It's hurts our economy and think about what is does to the fine women of South Carolina. When I could afford to travel I visited South Carolina and I found that they have some mighty fine women down there. Free trade is one thing but at least have the decency to find a girlfriend from the good ol' US of A.

We should not ship the girlfriend jobs out of the country!

Sorry, Ben. I had my sarcasm meter set on "Overly Sensitive". I've since changed it to "Some Things Could Fly Right Over Your Head", which is actually better from a stress standpoint.

There's actually another correction to your story that should be made. If you look at the Crosstabs for this poll question, you'll see that Governor Perdue's "Favorable" rating is actually 37%, but when Civitas wrote their press release, they dropped it down to 36%.

Which I'm sure was just an innocent mistake...

See, since I turned down my sarcasm meter, that sentence looks just fine. ;)
