Good news? Of a sort.....maybe.

This news…. in one way….is very good news!

I must admit I have been having doubts about some of the things happening in Raleigh. I am ashamed to admit that I felt there was something untoward in the matter of the missing emails and the disappearing travel records, Ms. Mary’s job and the loaner car.

But if you can make $300,000,000 errors like this…..then it’s pretty easy to lose some emails and travel records. I’m surprised they didn’t lose the computers, the network and the plans for the pier.

This restorative power of this $300,000,000 error is like an elixir to my soul. This error has restored my faith in my fellow man. After all, if you can make $300,000,000 errors …..well, let’s just say it opens up the field and makes other errors seem petty.

Maybe this error explains away a lot of the other stuff. And, by the way, "I believe it is peace for our time………."

Do we really have a budget deficit ?

If we were to find a half dozen or so of these $300,000,000 errors in our favor, then we would be about $1.8 billion ahead. We would not need a $1.6 billion tax increase.

Maybe we should take the time to check for some errors in our favor. Look in the glove boxes of these state cars to see what we can recover. Look in the trunk. Look in the storage closet at the office. Sell off some of the overstock. Sell those spare parts for equipment we no longer have.

We may be able to handle this budget deficit without a tax increase.

I am all for cutting spending!

But I do believe we need to increase spending for DHHS. After reading this article about the $300,000,000 error, I believe we will be faced with a new wave of depressed people. I mean this mess depresses even the most postive of people. I can see a wave of newly diagnosed people when they read about $300,000,000 government billing errors over an eight month period.

And when you thought it could not get worse..........

Career politicians breed corruption and lies. Vote them out or they and their cronies die in office.

Option one...you win
Option two...you lose

A $300m dollar mistake here and a $300m dollar mistake there....and after a while you're talking about real money.

Started in November but now we are on top of it. Doesn't really give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about efficiency.

Hard to imagine mistakes of this magnitude over such a lenghty period of time.

Healthcare is NOT a RIGHT NOR A FUNCTION of OUR government! STOP with all the healthcare nonsense...mandate that EACH PAYS FOR HIS OWN basic healthcare! NO insurance for routine Dr. office visits - NONE- you pay your own and keep some insurance for the major problems! EACH INDIVIDUAL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS/HER OWN HEALTHCARE. Period. It's NOT a government responsiblity!!!

You are of course referring to the same government that has been bailing out failed private enterprises that are considered to be cornerstones of our economy. Seems like the government is not such a failure after all.

Health insurance is not health care. It is a back stop against financial ruin by unplanned medical events.

Cell phone are no longer luxuries, often cheaper than land lines and often essential to getting and keeping a job while balancing elements of life like other jobs, child care and perhaps medical treatment.

When you pay health insurance you are paying for someone else's health care, at least until you need health care yourself. You are also paying for insurance company profits which depend partly on not paying health care costs. At some point in illness or injury health care costs exceed premiums and someone else's premiums are paying the tab. Private insurance costs (including copays, deductibles and denials) also compensate for poor investments by insurance companies and, along with your tax money, for costs associated with the treatment of uninsured people.

You can keep your private insurance and you will benefit from a public option, as will our economy.

If you would like to pay for someone else's health insurance, please feel free to do so, just don't force me to do it. It's called freedom.

Sounds like some people want to deny the actual results of the poll. People that work are not interested in paying for health insurance for those that do not work. It is that simple. I wonder how many that don't have insurance have money for cell phones, cigarettes, and beer. Now that would be an interesting poll.

Perdue-Another broken campaign promise

Recall that Beverly promised during her campaign that the state should pay the healthcare costs for more of NC's citizens. If I recall correctly, Perdue criticized McCrory in TV ads that he was "against children" because he could not support the state paying for health insurance for all kids. Surprising that he was able to admit what the state could afford or not, while she should obviously knew as one of the boys that there was no way the state could pay for it - but kept her mouth shut.

No big deal, just another promise that she knew that she couldn't keep but heck, she would say or do anything to get elected.

Gov Perdue quoted from above:

".......and at a price that people, and states, can afford."

But yet the citizens of North Carolina can stand a $1.6 billion dollar tax increase? So we don't want the Feds to tax us to death but we can tax ourselves to death by our own hands?
