The resentment stems more from riding Obama's coatails into office despite being by far the lesser candiate for gov. Bev is in way over her head, no surprise she has one of the lowest approval ratings for a governor in the nation.

Well well well great grandstanding. I knew a peerson who was on death row and his sentence was changed to life in prison. He pulled his time and was released.........................many many years ago. I have worked with this man, gone to church with this man, have even hired this man. In the past 20+ years I hve greater respect for this man than I do the Gov.

He just tried to live his life out giving and caring for his fello man. Our Gov is trying to ruin people's lives just to give her better numbers? Mayebe we should lock her up! We can you know........just do not vote for her next election. Find someone who puts NC's problems first and petty numbers builders last.

So the good Governor is wasting money keeping these criminals in prison. What better way to spend our money? But I hope we don't upset the prisoner's schedules. That would be a shame indeed. Where do we send our donations to keep these fine citizens locked up? I hope the Governor drags it out for years and years until Judge Judy turns these poor, misunderstood prisoners loose on society.

Re: Perdue: No release until 2054 OR Grandstanding 101

I am a staunch supporter of following the letter of the law. However during that five year window in the 70s, the letter of the law has caught up with the intent of the law.

All the political granstanding by the novice gov. Perdoo will not change the course of the future as it applies to these particular inmates. Her actions likely will, as others here have stated, wind up costing NC taxpayers far more money in the form of more useless litigation at the behest of Bevvie, et al.

Also, it should come as no surprise when a federal court finally rules for the inmates in question... favorably and penalizes the State of NC; ex-con by ex-con as they are finally released after a needless delay of matters already adjudicated.

All in all, this brand new rhetoric, bursting aloud from the gov., will be seen for what it truly is: political grandstanding to jack up her deplorable approval ratings.

And what a high price we'll all pay to finance her fruitless bid for that very approval ratings boost; temporary as it is...

The Queen of Hearts is at it again, all show, no go. She puts on this performance so when the Court throws it out she can blame them for releasing these hardened criminals. It's amazing she came out of the Legislative Branch which passed the assinine laws. Will she ask for another tax increase to pay legal costs and damages?

they will probably get out case law is on the side of the inmates. This odes make Bev look good and I applaud her trying to stop the release, BUT the state mental hospitals still take murderers, rapists and child rapists to the county and state fair so its not like shes tough on crime

Way to go Govenor Purdue-------- now many people (especially the victims) & their families can rest easy------ seems like the only way those violent offenders will ever leave prison is in a body bag.

Good for you, Madam Governor! Kudos!
It's so simple. A life sentence is simply that. You are released when you stop breathing...No ifs, ands, or buts. This isn't rocket science people.
