Re: What Perdue has signed so far

I wish the media would take Purdue's picture out of the newspaper. There is not one thing about her that is real - her hair is bleached and her smile is fake and cheezy. She smiles everytime she takes money away from a group of people, knowing it will only hurt their lives. (She does not have brain enough to know she only hurts the state more by doing that.) But then what can you expect from someone who goes merrily on her way spending out the wahzoo needlessly. She is a female Nero watching Rome's counterpart, North Carolina, burn.

14 bills signed not 37

"* S.B. 90: Confirms appointments of Susan Rabon and Bryan Beatty to the N.C. Utilities Commission."

SB90 (actually SJR90) did not go to the Governor as resolutions do not require gubernatorial signature.

Local bills also do not go to the Governor.

The Governor actually has signed 14 bills, not 37. You listed the 14 in your post.

I agree with Liddy

"Enough is enough," Dole said. "Our Marines and their families must be notified of what has happened."

Unfortunately, Liddy's not talking about what REALLY happened in any meaningful way. Not at all. Because this comical quote comes not in response to the corrupt war in Iraq she's supported for the past four years. Nor does it come in response to question about the gross negligence of the Bush administration in providing armored vehicles to troops on the ground. Nor does it address the stunning amount of war-profiteering that is eroding morale and readiness.

No, Liddy's not talking about any of these life and death matters. She's talking about bureaucratic bungling related to problems with the water at Camp Lejeune. And while we can all appreciate her Johnny-come-lately involvement in that important issue, her years of disregard for the health and safety of Marines on the frontlines is the thing that matters most.

The sad thing is, many of your readers will note this story and conclude that the senior Senator is actually doing something that makes a difference.

Thank goodness

for Democrats.

If the Republicans still controlled Congress, that OLF would be as good as built, with the full support of Liddy Dole, Dick Burr and the rest of the Bushbots in the NC delegation.

A lot of northeast farmers have been leaning Republican for quite awhile now. It's like the scales are falling off their eyes, though, as they see what happens when a Democratic majority goes to work for We the People.

Thank you David Price.

Re: Semper Fi

As a former Marine, I must say that this matters to none in the ranks. It's clearly a move to pander to the senior Marine leaders and the overall civilian "community."

The change is in name only and doesn't affect anything other than the title of the Secretary of the Navy (and Marine Corps).

It doesn't even give the USMC a boost, only the civilian leadership.

*Thomas Brock is the campaign manager for Marshall Adame for Congress. Neither this comment nor any other comment by Thomas Brock is endorsed or approved by Marshall Adame for Congress and should not be considered supported by Marshall Adame.

Between Robin Hayes naming post offices and Wally Jones playing pander with the Marines, you'd think there was nothing more important going on in America than the Republican name game.

At least they're not in charge of anything important any more.

As promised, the eight who voted against the measure:

Blackwood, Cleveland, Faison, Gibson, Langdon, McElraft, Pierce and Sutton.

Not voting: Hackney, Barnhart and Bell

Well, dear ole Cary puts up a bill which
if he was sincere (scary because he thinks
he is) he would have offered it two years ago--
not that I know if he did or not. If in fact
this was his first approach to this then it
smacks of political opportunism to me, but
what the heck, who wants to rain on a po boy
working his way through the world, an inch
at a time.

Do you have a handy-dandy way of seeing who voted for and against specific bills? It's probably right in front of my nose, but I'm not finding it.

What on earth would possess 8 people to vote against something like this?
