Well now there is outrage over "tar baby". There is no end to the polictical correctness of democrats. Folks don't be fooled by this junk, it's politics as usual for them to point fingers and express fake outrage. Look at the history of the democrat party or "dixiecrat" as they used to be known. They have no right to point fingers at the party of Lincoln.

I would understand the "outrage" of the Democrats of Virginia Foxx's use of the term tar baby a little bit better if I had seen outrage over Senator Robert Byrd's use of the term "white n****r" in an interview a few years back. Ah that right, only Republicans can be racists; Democrats are pure of heart and can't possibly be racists. Bryd a former KKK leader is not racists but Foxx mentioning a fable is. What an upside down world we live in.

It is long overdue for an apology from Rick Watson to NC taxpayers. All you have to do is google Rick Watson and hold on,it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Let us hope that the Governor's Press Office doesn't underestimate the intelligence of the Governor. Being from Rocky Mount, Gov. Easley knows that Northeastern North Carolina is not only out beyond Capitol Boulevard, in fact it's all the way out to Interstate 95 and beyond.

Just don't rename the Roanoke Rapids country music enterprise the Charlie Daniels Theatre. The traffic would be so heavy going in and out of Scotland Neck that they'd have to build another expressway.

Re: Claims Dept: Perdue on Moore and Parton

Insane, I know. The Commission approved funding the theater -- 21.5 million dollars -- without having access to information that Moore had on the (questionable) feasibility of the project to generate enough revenue. It doesn't pass the "red face test" when Moore claims this was out of scope and they didn't need to consider the feasibility study -- just ability to pay! Duh - well, ability to pay -- doesn't that hinge upon... ummm... FEASIBILITY of the project?!! The dome pundits have missed the boat on this one.

Re: Bev Perdue is a Hypocrite

Everyone is pointing their finger at everyone else. That is how these things go. Perdue points at Moore who points at the City of Roanoke Rapids who points at Parton and now the Scotts. Jones wants it off him so he points to Moore. Now Perdue can point at Betts. Bottom line. Can we possibly imagine how many of these deals - consultants, fundraising, bad investments - there are going on in NC right now? Probably too many to count.

Moore is right - Board of Transportation and the entire department needs to be cleaned up and removed from politics. Has Betts not learned that emails end up in the newspaper? Wonder who all he has raised money from for Perdue?

Roanoke Rapids needs to clean up the situation and put the theatre to use. Did anyone really think people flying down I-95 would stop for a few days at the monstracity that rises out of the flatlands? Scotland Neck, Rocky Mount were all trying to get spin-offs from this deal. What do they have going on and who was involved with projects there?

Bev Perdue is a Hypocrite

Perdue's campaign pushed a Roanoke Rapids city official to raise $20,000 for her campaign from Parton.

Perdue said that in December her campaign began telling fundraisers and staffers to steer clear of contributions from people connected to the theater.

She is wrong to attack Moore

wHAT ABSOLUTE HORSE-HOCKEY. For anyone to pretend that something was witheld, or in some meaningful sense, "not disclosed" when the study was something NEVER before submitted much less ASKED FOR by the local government commission respponsible, ultimately, for the decision on whether to move on this proposal, is the heighth of hypocrisy and studied ignorance.

Find an issue grounded in reality, if you really believe in your candidate. If you really believe in your candidate, can't you do that much?

The point is not that Moore is willing to share the feasibility study NOW, but that he did not share it when the Commission was considering the funding or voting on the project. It's even more fishy because was the chair of the commission! Of course he's all for "full disclosure" now that he is running for Governor...

Overstated?

Leave it to the Dome to badly miss the entire and only point of this whole sad story. Perdue's challenge isn't about the merits of the study or the criteria the LGC used. It's simply about full disclosure of information. One person (Moore) had certain information when the Commission voted, the others didn't.

The N&O's conclusion that the Perdue "over-reached" is absurd. The proper conclusion would have been: Moore "under-delivered."

Excellent!!! BARBARA HELMS HOWE is a true American patriot who should have been elected governor.

Remember that the governor with zero integrity, Sleazely, kept her from debating last time. Sleazely is a total embarrassment to us all.
