Re: Who's given to Dole's PAC?

There's actually more than just these two, Ryan. I don't have them in front of me right now, but I've been looking at three different PACs that are in Dole's name, and this one (Leadership Circle) is not one of those. Thanks for the info. :)

How much did Perdue raise from current state appointees and employees?

That would seem to be her equivalent to Duke Power.

I am sure McCrory will repay the state, if the RNC has not already taken care of the expenses, but I know as a citizen of NC I am still awaiting repayment by Easley and Clinton for using the plane owned by NC so much as well as his little vacation to Italy.

MIGHT WANT TO CHECK
JUST TO BE SURE, NOT THAT
WE SUSPECT HONESTY IS AFOOT

We of this quarter have no doubt that the McCrory Campaign is prepared to reimburse the U.S. and N.C. treasuries for all costs related to the travel and protection of President Bush, including but not limited to (as bureaucrats would have it) all expenses incurred in the use of Air Force One, local law enforcement protection and incidental costs like snacks and cooling liquid refreshments. No doubt faithful media minions are even now efforting the task of nailing down the detailed accounting of these costs. It may be helpful to ask the McCrory campaign to make available copies of all drafts and any chits recording out-of-pocket cash made available for the aforesaid purposes.

Not like we don't trust the McCrory folks to hue to the line. And lord knows The President has never given us treasonable reason to suspect he's anything but a stickler for keeping the roles of chief executive and partisan potentate separate.

On second thought, just forget we said anything.

FFC

From my website:

My name is James Protzman. I'm a freelance writer who has lived in Chapel Hill since 1977, when I left the Navy at Camp Lejeune. I graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1972 and the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1980. I'm working on two novels, which I tuck in between my writing and blogging.

Just in case you're math- and reading-challenged, that means I've lived in North Carolina more than 30 years, and served as an officer in the Navy, working with the Marine Corps.

So who the heck are you?

Oh for heaven's sake, FCC. Would you settle down? Every post from you inspires the picture of an angry wet hen. You're going to blow a gasket, burst a blood vessel, rupture a tendon, have an apoplectic fit and keel over. Now I'm sure there's someone out there in this big ole world who cares about ole FCC and doesn't want him injuring his crazy old self. Don't make us find your loved ones and have you consigned to an asylum for your own danged good.

And leave Martha Stewart alone, for God's sake. She helped me get over my unnatural fear of dust bunnies, and my shower? Forget about it. I'm in total control there, and I haven't dropped a shampoo bottle on my foot in ages.

Um . . Xiumi? Are ya completely out of touch? Your post doesn't even make sense. How can the gathering consist of government haters if the purpose of the gathering is to bring together people interested and enthusiastic about candidates for state office?

And by the way, if you quit sulking, dry your eyes and mind your manners, I bet you could swing an invite to the next one.

"Our campaign will concentrate on the state of North Carolina and the problems the state has — from corruption, to mismanagement, to a high tax rate," he said. "That has very little with what is going on at the national level."

From Corruption

In response to the outcry raised by Enron and other scandals, Congress passed the Corporate Corruption Bill, which President Bush signed on July 30, 2002, amid great fanfare. Bush declared that he was signing the bill because of his strong belief that corporate officers must be straightforward and honest. If they were not, he said, they would be held accountable.

Ironically, the day Bush signed the Corporate Corruption Bill, he and his aides were enmeshed in an orchestrated campaign to trick the country into taking the biggest risk imaginable--a war. Indeed, plans to attack Iraq were already in motion.

To Mismanagement

OPEC, rebuffing calls from U.S. President George W. Bush to increase oil output, cited "mismanagement" of the American economy as a major factor driving prices up.

Record prices are suddenly creating the sharpest tensions in years between the oil cartel and the United States, the world's largest oil consumer. Two days after the president called for more oil on the global market, OPEC members, meeting in Vienna, Austria, chose to leave their production levels unchanged, declaring that the market has plenty of oil already.

That has EVERYTHING to do with what's going on at the national level!

Oh, taxes....NC has 3rd lowest business taxes in U.S. as of May 2, 2008 when Ernst & Young and the Council on State Taxation released their study.

"But the last time I went to the Protzman home for a casual get-together a little over a month ago, there were so many candidates there I didn't even attempt to count them. It was like a candidate buffet, and I had to bounce around nibbling so I could save enough room to try everything."

Sounds a bit like some of the granola-fed Martha Stewarts of Chapel Hill like to pig out at the Protz Hole.

Good deal.

I've never known any left-over hippie in Chapel Hill to turn down a buffet with lots of former draft dodgers regaling the crowd.

Some of you government-hating drones are easily impressed.
