That's Lenoir, not Lenior. And Larry is not only a developer but also a former Democratic Caldwell county commissioner.

She'd do mighty well to appoint Les Merritt somewhere in the upper eschelon. Commerce might be good for Merritt, but rather see him oversee DOT probably...lol...NC is just another sitcom like the national scene, totally ridiculous script from all involved while the clueless audience is too dumb to know what's happened to NC.

Re: Owens: Not looking for a Perdue post

We really need Bill Owens to help us with the fight against the Outlying Landing Field. I only hope he will be there for us.

It was Stan Lee who put the words WITH GREAT POWER, COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY into Peter Parker's mouth. That quote seems oddly appropriate to our situation here. The Navy has great power, but in this case they are showing no responsibility for that power. They are intent on destroying the way of life of a whole region.

The Navy says it has a capacity problem and needs the OLF to relieve it, there are those in these parts (and I side with them) who say that the need for the OLF is actually political, and that the Navy merely wants to escape the encroachment problem imposed on it by the idiots in Virginia Beach who keep building new construction in close proximity to both NAS Oceana and NALF Fentress in spite of BRAC's 2005 recommendation that all such construction be stopped and that all such new construction as has been built in unsafe areas be condemned. [ANOTHER THING THAT MAKES ME SUSPICIOUS OF THE NAVY IS THE FACT THAT I HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO UNDERSTAND THERE ARE THREE EXISTING RUNWAYS AT OCEANA, OF WHICH THE NAVY IS MAKING NO USE, IN ITS EFFORT TO EXPAND FCLP OPERATIONS.]

Bill, stick with us, stay with us and help us. We need you now more than ever.

Reworded slightly to avoid confusion. Fain is expected to remain in the post through the end of administration.

Soon there will be some really great exposition of corruption in the DOT, etc by the great Fern Shubert, who will continue in the role of de facto investigator in the absence of Les Merritt!

Fern Shubert should be our governor instead of Sugar Dumplin.

What about Valeria Lee? She is one of the second round of transition team leaders, and finished up at Golden Leaf earlier this year. Is she really retired, or would she like to wrap up her career as, say, Secretary of Administration? It wouldn't be too surprising if she was aiming for Commerce, either.

The NCDOT is one of those organizations that has spun out of control. Too many people spending too much money for whatever results are generated. It definitely does not need another caretaker who will only perpetuate the joke that it is. A private organization with the budget of the NCDOT could pave the world.

Throw the NCDOT into the mix with the big Detroit three. Add water, simmer for 30 minutes, then dump in the fish tank.

I agree. It's time to go "green" at DOT. Nine would be a fine leader.

Raleigh businessperson Nina Szlosberg is a leader on rail, environmental, and related questions as a member of the state Board of Transportation. She'd make a fine Secretary of Transportation, with a clear commitment to an effective and balanced transportation system.

FFC1304 "A NC Constitutional Amendment calling for ONE Senator for EACH of the 100 Counties in NC ...:

I think the US Supreme Court tossed this idea in 1962.
