Gee Beverly, I too am thrilled that all working & spending families will be paying $990 million in new state taxes. Thanks for nothing...

What's behind door number three?

You chose door #3.......OK......let's see it.........

"MORE TAXES! Congratulations, you and the citizens of North Carolina have just won the right to pay more taxes. But don't worry about all that tax money getting bogged down in Raleigh...... they'll spend it before you even send it up there. What do you think about that?"

"Well, I don't know. I heard all those campaign promises about no new taxes. Is it too late to change my vote? Can I choose another door? What's the "2 for $2" this week?"

The overtaxed citizens of this state have to pay 2% more income tax, and an increased sales tax? Yet our representatives have still found enough money for Hackney's $25 million pier to nowhere, the teapot museum, the ACC hall of fame, Nielsen and Oblingers severance packages, Harrisons over 200k a year salary to not be the head of DPI, and of course Bev Perdue's appeal of that decision on the taxpayer dime. Why do we need someone on the payroll only to oversee stimulus spending? I dont want to hear the taxes are necessary and "it's for the children", because that is a load of crap. Its for their pet projects and covering their tails so they get re-elected.

A surcharge on income tax for everyone is part of the "hope & change" we have been hearing about.

How can the state continue to spend all this money if the taxpayers are not willing to pay more tax? I hope you people are not suggesting that our state leaders are not spending every cent of this tax money wisely !!!!

It's like the old country song that goes: "Why is the fat man dancing while the poor man pays the band?" I think the name of the song was "Tax & Spend."

The lawyers seems to be getting by fine. Why not the courts?

Raise the cost of court. My friend just paid his lawyer $54,000 for his contested divorce. Wonder what the court costs were?

If new funding went to build larger prison work camps in the state i'd be all for more funding. So far as the court rooms, it's a three ring circus in there. There is no justice, Just Us.

I'm preaching again but I can't help it.

Don't forget that we're going to get NEW taxes imposed on us to help prevent cuts in education.

Just 2-3 months ago Perdue pulled lottery profits away from the schools to use the money elsewhere in the budget. Now she claims we have to have NEW taxes to prevent deep cuts in education. Does this make sense to anyone?

Remove the 75 MILLION DOLLARS to the Clean Water Management Slush Fund from the budget - the taxpayers have purchased enough swamp land.

And Basnight, Rand and Hackney could walk thru every Mall in NC and never be recognized even ONCE.

The "men behind the curtain" do their dirty work in total anonymity.

I dare say there is not one ACORN voter who would even recognize their names .......

I'll huff and I'll puff..........

"But at one point, Sen. Dan Clodfelter, a Charlotte Democrat, left the room in a huff....."

I hate to see anyone get into a "huff." How do we characterize the taxpayers of the state? Are they in a "huff?"

In the ditch? Down and out? Frustrated? Shocked? Sad? Feeling left out? Finally coming to grips with the life of a wretched taxpayer? Hoping that the Queen will show mercy?

Good news & Bad news

The good news is that there will be a deal.

The bad news is that the citizens of North Carolina will be dealt another losing hand!

What are the rules on passing the deal? Seems we have been catching some mighty bad hands these last 10 years or so. Could we try a new game? How about some wild cards? We tried a new card game....... "Go Fishing"..... and lost $25,000,000 to a new pier. That was bad luck.

We used to play with matchsticks. Can we pay these tax increases with matchsticks?

The moral of the story is that the house always wins......and the poor taxpayers are just that.....poor.

"2 percent surcharge on income tax for everyone"

Since the Democrats running our state for the last few decades were incapable and perhaps incompetent. We ALL now have to pay a ADDITIONAL 2% of our already OVER TAXED paychecks!

Responsible reporting would actually say who is proposing this regressive tax on the working class so we can ALL call their offices and go visit them at the legislature.
