Sen. Malone was a titan for our community, and he made a difference. His efforts helped make Wake County such a great place to live. The quality of life we enjoy, and why so many have made this their home is no accident. We should remember that this fall before we dismantle his life's work.

I was told by old timers that pre 1970s "completion" of the Interstate highway system, the quickest route for some members from the mountains to Raleigh was actually though Georgia and South Carolina. The western tip of Cherokee County (the county where Marble is located)is the same distance to the Mississippi River as to Raleigh

I think you can blame the failed Bush economy for this one. If you want more of the same, McCrory is your man. He might even get you a ride on his "bright and shiny" McCroy Line to uptown Charlotte where you can collect your unemployment if he is elected! You might even catch a glimpse of him playing golf with Jim Black at his Myers Park Country Club or wave to his plane as he jets to Paris on your hard-earned paycheck.

The legislature should be disbanded and each citizen should vote on every issue via the internet. Then the lobbyists would not have anyone to bribe and there would be no more Jim Black's to take those bribes and we would not as much idiocy in the bureaucracy. Maybe we could even get a decent governor.
